OSU TE Marcus Baugh Suspended
It's officially the offseason. The top story on the CBS Eye on College Football blog is about Marcus Baugh getting an MIP, which is apparently his second.
I posted just to put this gem in from an old Simpsons:
Ned Flanders: Pardon me, neighbourinos. Some of our boys are lost in your town. You wouldn't have happened to see them, by any chance?
Shelbyvillian #1: Sounds like Springfield's got a discipline problem.
Shelbyvillian #2: Maybe that's why we beat them at football nearly half the time.

If you run from the party, Marcus, then you've done something wrong.
Don't run from the party, Marcus.
Walk slowly toward the back door and vanish.
Vanish into the deep, dark C-Bus night.

I couldn't believe they called it MIP in Columbus, since that has an M in it. The actual charge, 'Underage Drinking,' has no M, so okay.

...Underaged Minor in Possession?
Scratch that...in East Lansing, the brain trust is looking for a way to introduce an aggregated version of MIP, the offense Seriously Crunk Minor in Possession. Because why waste an opportunity to say scUM?

...on the incompleteness of Urban's decision wall. I saw nothing about alcohol so how are the players to know?
Seriously, though, MIP as a college student is only half a step worse than jaywalking in my book. College students drink, including athletes, and including scholarship athletes.
What would be a travesty is that Urban cuts this player to free up the extra scholarship he allegedly needs to sign his entire recruiting class and use the MIP as pretext.

it is about discipline. And yes, it probably is about a pretext to oust an undisciplined player to bring in a new replacement player.

If the guy is good, they will keep him. If Urban can bring in a better player, Baugh will be shown the door.

In our case: "Maybe that's why we beat them at football nearly half the time." is said by Ohio!
... and Sparty
... and ND, SEC, etc.

For the question of MIP, return the drinking age to 18. Old enough to go to war, old enough to vote, old enough to legally be drunk.
The next question is about OSUs 82 scholarship limit. The answer to this question is much more difficult, but I'll give it a try. Only bring in enough new players to bring the total number of scholarship players to 82.

yes more drunk teens is the answer

When we had guys get caught drinking underage at NU in the offseason it typically was not a suspension. Attend a counseling session, apologize to your team, and we all probably run more as a team punishment because it was considered every person on the team's fault if an underage person got caught drinking because we should all be looking out for each other. It may be worth mentioning that IL does not have MIP laws and underage drinking was simply a fine.

The act of drinking underage isn't the problem, but the fact that he keeps getting caught.

A team coached by Urban Meyer in Columbus that has discipline problems? Obviously a coincidence.
