Pope thought he was supposed to be running on to the field for a defensive series, but he was waved off by Teradja Mitchell and then Pope threw a complete tantrum. The senior from Dinwiddie, Virginia threw his gloves into the stands, took his jersey off and was inconsolable.

Pope appeared to get in a fairly heated exchange with Ryan Day and linebackers coach Al Washington. Team captain Kamryn Babb and Javontae Jean-Baptiste tried to calm him down, but Pope was irate and was eventually escorted to the locker room by director of player personnel C.J. Barnett.

From listening to the Letterman Row guys, it seems like he hasn’t been happy and has wanted to quit for like three years. I was quick to defend him because he’s been really good in the time he’s been in the games, but they said he hasn’t been the best Sunday-Friday. This isn’t his first Twitter session against the team either. He was mad he got passed up by another LB last year (Hilliard was very good) and tweeted smh after our wing against Minny this year. I’d say he’s gone for good now.

For OSU, this is a first world problem. They undoubtedly have 3 to 4 guys waiting in the wings to replace him who are just as good as him, if not better.

Maybe it’s the BPONE, but usually situations like this where OSU loses a player or a key contributor somehow always manage to end up working out in their favor, and it’s somehow always manages to be the best thing that could’ve happened to them.  The next guy ends up being the missing piece of the puzzle and ends up making the entire unit, if not the entire team better.

Granted, in those previous situations I’m sure it wasn’t because the guy walked off the team, but I’m still at the point where I believe that things always work out in the best possible way for OSU.

Eh, I get your sentiment, but if you've watched Ohio State's defense this year you would know if they had better players they can put on the field, they would have done it weeks ago. I don't know if Pope is any kind of significant defensive contributor for them, if he's seeing the field as a linebacker at any capacity it's probably because he's the best player on the team for that role.
