??  this EXACT stuff happens at every school in the country.  Well except USC, what happened there was COMPLETELY different and millions of times worse

Jon Faulk would just as soon throw a guy off the team than allow them to use his office as their own personal sporting goods department.  The guy has literally been there longer than EVERYBODY.  What HE says goes.

BLACK BAG DAY!

the equipment staff/managers stand over the barrels that dirty gear is put in after practice and make sure that every player returns every last piece of equipment issued them that day.

recall ever seeing a signed Michigan jersey hanging in any restaurant or anywhere else.  Maybe I just don't go to the right places.

But in Columbus, OSU stuff is everywhere.

in restaurants, in people's houses, etc. Remember, athletic departments can sell this stuff. In addition, they can donate to local businesses if they so choose. In addition, I know of a situation where a child lost his parents in a car accident (west side of the state), he was a huge Michigan fan, and after checking the veracity of the story, Mike Hart, Lloyd Carr and others signed a jersey or something else for the kid. But that is directly managed through the athletic department and documented.  It's not hard to believe that some of that equipment signed is legitimate, or might even occurred after the players graduated from the University.

Now, even in the best athletic departments, and with the best equipment managers, I'm sure the occassional piece of equipment goes unreturned. However, that just underscores how ridiculous what was going on at tOSU regarding the shear amounts TP was walking out with.
