open thread - Illinois at Michigan basketball

Let's not forget our boys on the court. The real season starts today. Go Blue.

EDIT: Per ESPN, Jim will be introduced at halftime. Whether or not that is on TV is unknown, at least to me. I have to imagine they will show this on TV since it's such a big deal.

I don't believe JB's system fits 1st year players well at all.  If you watch off ball *Dakitched* you will see the younger guys don't know where to go.  When they do know they still have to think.  You cannot think and play the tempo JB's system requires.

This year looks to be a few steps back and a trip to the NIT.  We are being shown just how spoiled we were the past few seasons.  I mentioned before, Kentucky lost to Robert Morris in the NIT the year after winning the title.  

It's amazingly difficult to maintain a high level of play year after year while losing kids to the draft.  Even more so when you are doing things the proper way like JB.

I can never understand how a high level college player or any NBA player for that matter can suck at free throws. They have been shooting them their entire life it should be the most practiced shot they've ever taken.

This team needs some intensity to make up for the lack of quickness and athletic ability.  If you are going to go for less size, need to have some athletic ability or shooting ability and this team just looks lethargic.

It seems like a blend of humility, tempered by him correctly saying that "we haven't done a darn thing yet," and probably being slightly overwhelmed and tired. Him not having his full voice his probably bugging him too, he may be a bit under the weather. 

So I like it, no fanfare, no boasting or chest-thumping.The only thing that's bothering me just a little is I didn't hear a "Go Blue." Seems weird that he didn't say it ... or did he and I missed it?

To pull on a guy's shoulder? Seriously, Donnal was in bad position to begin with but all he had to do was foul as soon as his man caught the ball. One goal for the rest of they year, Beat MSU and OSU at home. Doubt either happen. This team is just so ugh.
