Now...I Like Pizza As Much As The Next Guy...
But taking up the first hundred or so comments on a post about Harbaugh and the Bears debating Chicago's best pizza is ridiculous. IMO, of course. Given that I did mention pizza in the post heading, I'll recommend Burt's Place. It's in Morton Grove.
Now...about the Bears/Harbaugh "short" conversation it could be:
Bears: Hi Jim, care to talk about the coaching position in Chicago?
JH: Yeah I do but I'm busy now. Can you call back tomorrow morning?
...or...
Bears: Hi Jim, care to talk about the coaching position in Chicago?
JH: No.
So we have spent another million or so words and provided not a jot of additional clarity. I just added an additional hundred or so to the pile.
Seriously though, this whole Harbaugh story is beginning to evolve into COVID "for the love of all that is holy, can't this please just be over already" territory.

What have we become?
January 19th, 2022 at 6:17 PM ^
People wondering the desert desperately seeking meaning in life?
January 19th, 2022 at 6:20 PM ^
I actually prefer to wander in the dessert to find meaning in life.
January 19th, 2022 at 6:49 PM ^
if by "meaning" you mean "eaten by giant worms"

Only if you make a lot of noise - you have walk in an irregular fashion like the Fremen.

Comb the desert? We should talk about cheese cake now

Ground hog day!!!

See! The insanity has now fully taken hold!

Swedish friends?
January 19th, 2022 at 6:18 PM ^
Fuck pizza. Let's talk about tacos. Crunchy or soft? Ground beef/meat or chopped meat?
January 19th, 2022 at 6:26 PM ^
The soft corn street tacos with meat, onions, cilantro, and lime is all you need.
January 19th, 2022 at 6:44 PM ^
Is that how they served them in Costa Rica?
Also quesabirria-style tacos are the best. If you're in Denver, try Mr. Oso in RiNo area or if you're in GR, try Tamales Mary off of Wealthy in Eastown. You can thank me later.
January 20th, 2022 at 8:03 AM ^
Probably won't remember later, and I fully plan on checking out any reasonable taco reco in GR so...
thanks!

Yes to Toby's post, except I don't need the shpritz of lime in there.

It's amazing what can be done with those ingredients. For a simple list it's also amazing to see the range of outcomes depending on the chef.
Pre-pandemic I was in one of the Paco's Tacos locations in Chicago. In a Waffle House sort of way you can sit and watch the cooks. I figured out what their secret ingredient is: salt. One of the cooks emptied about twelve ounces on a few slabs.

Toby Flenderson for the win!
I strongly recommend everyone visit La Tienda Mexicana in Madison Heights...on John R, between 13 and 14 Mile Roads. The best in town.

My girlfriend is Mexican and her mom's flank steak tacos on home made corn tortillas and rice and beans are really all I need for the rest of my life...
If you must get takeout though, Miny's in Ypsi is a somewhat hidden gem
January 20th, 2022 at 9:14 AM ^
You might want to lock that down.
January 19th, 2022 at 10:41 PM ^
Somebody described tacos with beef, lettuce, and cheese as "street tacos" to me recently and I'm 100% sure I furrowed my brow in a confused manner.
January 20th, 2022 at 8:35 AM ^
Best street tacos I've ever had were carne asada with cilantro and onions on double corn tortillas with a bit of lime and tomatillo salsa at a strip mall in West Palm Beach Florida. I was the only non-Hispanic person there, and there was a line out the door at lunch hour. That told me all I needed to know.

Tacos al pastor
January 19th, 2022 at 6:51 PM ^
Damn. It's food like this that really makes me regret giving up pork.
January 19th, 2022 at 7:09 PM ^
Doc it is totally illegal to make a taco out of a pastor. You can go to jail for a long time
January 19th, 2022 at 9:05 PM ^
Apparently is allowed with adobada and pineapple
January 20th, 2022 at 9:02 AM ^
Username fits?
January 19th, 2022 at 7:04 PM ^
Double soft corn (not flour) tortillas, ground beef/carne asada/al pastor, cilantro, chopped onion.
That's it. The Holy Grail of tacos. I like al pastor the best IF it's got a bit of char/crunch to it. Otherwise ground beef or carne asada is nearly as good.
January 19th, 2022 at 7:51 PM ^
I'm with you and Dr. Jaws on the pastor tacos. This now-closed place had them as one of its four menu items: https://www.yelp.com/biz/taqueria-los-barrilitos-chicago
Also, I see that tacos are to this post what pizza was to the Bears post.
January 19th, 2022 at 9:04 PM ^
Yeah, I like this -- we can talk about food if we start a "Harbaugh post".....
January 19th, 2022 at 7:08 PM ^
Soft, corn tortilla, fish, preferably dorado.
January 19th, 2022 at 7:36 PM ^
I had some Korean Steak Street Tacos when I was in Hawaii last month that were pretty dang good.
January 19th, 2022 at 8:06 PM ^
Have you tried a taco town taco?
January 19th, 2022 at 8:43 PM ^
No, but I had Torchy's in Denver. For a chain it was really good. It will take a few visits to work through their menu.
January 20th, 2022 at 7:41 AM ^
Gotta get them trashy
January 19th, 2022 at 9:51 PM ^
Pizza? Now that's what I call a taco!
January 19th, 2022 at 6:21 PM ^
This JH coaching thing will eventually sort itself out. Best not to worry about it anymore. Maybe go out and get a pizza or something.

Best pizza on the planet: Royal Pizza, under the El in Brighton Beach, circa 1960-1975. Across the street from Mrs. Stahl's Knishes. Entertainment provided daily by the very crazy old ladies yelling at no one, sometimes losing the argument with that same no one.
Bialys? You had to go under the El in Sheepshead Bay. No crazy ladies there, though.
JH is gonna do what he's gonna do when he's ready to do it. Not any sooner.
Getting crazy about it, trying to rush his "news" is about as useless as trying to hurry my lovely bride along when she's getting dressed for a special occasion. Yeah, just like that ...
January 19th, 2022 at 6:31 PM ^
I like pizza more than the next guy, and that includes you, o.p.!
...Sucks, because I live in Vermont, and you can't get a decent slice in all of New England. I do make my own pizza, and it's the fucking bomb.
January 19th, 2022 at 6:47 PM ^
There’s a new haven style place in chicago that’s delicious
January 19th, 2022 at 7:11 PM ^
Assuming you're talking about Piece. Their pizza is fantastic.
January 20th, 2022 at 7:57 AM ^
Yep! It’s so good

I could really go for a maple creemee. I spent a summer on Mt. Mansfield as a park ranger and I must've ate 3-4 of those a week. I never lost a pound and I hiked like 8 miles a day.

Regina Pizzeria in Boston's North End. Remo's Pizza in Stamford. Checkmate Pizza in Concord, NH.
Vermont? Yep, good luck there. Sorry.

Vermont has good beer.
