No Matter the Sport

Michigan ALWAYS falls short in the critical game that would put everyone over the top.  Be it a championship, a big football game, or this game to take over the number one spot in basketball, we consistently lose the biggest games in the biggest spotlights.  Ugh.

Dude...we’ve beaten 3 tournament teams and it’s only December 4th. 2 teams who are final 4 caliber. We are playing our 3rd ranked team in 6 days, and this is vs #1 team on the road.

Battle 4 Atlantis is a pretty big stage against a field of elite competition. This game is only four days removed from a great stretch of basketball against top 10 teams. This team still has a lot of room to grow. And sometimes the three just doesn't drop.

Michigan troll logic.

If Michigan wins then they should have won because the other team is not very good. [Note: This applies in *all* circumstances including rival games, if applicable, and/or vs. all ranked teams].

If Michigan loses then you can pick among the following: a) the team just isn't very good; b) they were not prepared; c) a personal favourite for the trolls: "the other team wanted it more"; d) the other team somehow "cares more about the rivalry".

Kind of feels that way. If we're being honest about it.

When UM beat Washington State in the 1998 Rose Bowl, I remember it being a feeling that I've never felt before in my lifetime. Perhaps never since.

Brooks, Johns and Wagner were, uhh... really not good tonight. But especially Johns (and why so much PT?). Simpson hurt us a lot more than he helped too. All around off night for everyone.

At least it didn't feel like the refs were jobbing us.

(EDIT: for those who don't think this game meant much, I don't disagree with you as it relates to the entirety of this particular season. But how many times has either our football or basketball teams been ranked #1 in the regular season in the last 25 years? You don't get too many cracks at that chance. It'd be nice to win one of those games).

Take your meds and calm TF down. There’s nothing critical about this basketball game. Louisville is the #1 team for a reason and we’re on their court. They’re suppose to win. Shots aren’t falling. that happens in basketball...

M Lost 3 top tier guys and are playing against our 3rd elite team in the last week, and competing!

Shooting sub 25% is not a typical evening.

This team has room for improvement, and will do just that.

It is going to be OK

Michigan just won a championship in the Bahamas, in case you didn’t notice. After back-to-back wins over top-10 teams in back-to-back days.

Bunch of morose mother fuckers starting threads around here.  Going to have to require psych evaluations before people can OP.  I mean, I know I am always lobbying for Harbaugh's head on a pike and bagmen, but those are positive changes!

Basketball team can't win a big game to put the school over the top?  What the fuck did we all watch over thanksgiving?

What did we all watch last spring out in UCLA and in Omaha?

Bloody hell.

Good God, what a bunch of battered Whiney ass pussies!!  We beat 2 out of 3 top 10 teams in a 1 week span!!  We hung with the number 1 team on their floor in prime time!

Delete this stupid shit fam.

The hoops team is kicking ass this year and playing fun ball!

It was always improbable we were going to beat 3 top 10 teams in a row, especially playing the #1 team, in their house, a few days after flying back from a foreign country.

This is just a dumb fuck take.

Wow never expected to see multiple threads already complaining.  I never thought this team would be so good out of the gate.. not really very concerned about tonight.  The boys will be ready come March.  Great experience for them both winning big and losing to a #1 within a week.

I'd welcome a rematch against this same L'ville team in late March (or preferably early April).  They were more rested and probably will look like the same team in a few months.  OTOH, our team will look much better and different come tournament time.  Wagner will be up to speed and both the coach and players will be more comfortable in the offense.

And we wonder why people hate our fan base. We have some of the biggest crybaby, “woe is me“ fans I’ve ever seen. Just take a deep breath next time you think of posting a thread.

Baseball in the spring

Basketball in 2013 and 2018

Football for the last 20 years against OSU...

you’re not totally wrong. We still have lots of opportunities in basketball this year to change that narrative though.

Calm down Sally. It’s their 4th game in 7 days. It’s very early in the season. It’s their 1st loss to a good team (who happens to be #1 at moment) on the road. It’s not like they lost to SFA at home or anything.

Did some of you guys just start watching college basketball?

25% field goal percentage.

15% from 3.

It happens to every team. It happened tonight.

Not gonna win with those numbers, on the road, against a good team, EVER.

It's gonna be a great season, ups and downs, just be humming come tourney time.

Teams didn’t have any film on how Michigan would look under Howard. They were able to surprise some teams early on. Teams have film and will have a game plan to stop Michigan. Key is now to see if the coaching staff can adjust. Also I still think there just isn’t enough shooters. X is a great point guard but he is a liability on offense. They had enough shooters in 2018 so it wasn’t an issue but we saw how it came back to haunt Michigan last season against those rapists at MSU.
