The Shaw hate on this thread is beyond hilarious. He is a top 15 coach who coaches like Mike Debord and Carr. Lots of teams would kill to have him as a coach.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:09 PM ^
Including Michigan if we didn't have Harbaugh...
You can do a lot worse than Shaw.
Like I said, he's lost 14 games while at Stanford. Hell, Les Miles has lost more during the same period.
I'm not claiming he's elite. But like I've said, who's elite? Harbaugh, Meyer, Saban. End of list.
After that, Dabo is coming...Jimbo Fisher is coming.
Then what? Brian Kelly, David Shaw, Dantonio, Gundy, Stoops, Richt, Patterson?
I mean he's right there with that 3rd tier...I'm sure I'm forgetting some guys, but that's still better most everyone else.
I hate that this thread has turned me into some kind of David Shaw lover...I'm not. But he's right there with the names I mentioned.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:11 PM ^
Stoops is elite. People forget his long term track record. Lost a few steps here past 3 years but regaining it. He has a Bo like win % in an era of far more parity and scholarship reductions.
Shaw is in that #10 to #15 range just like Carr was. Carr was set up by Bo and Mo just like HHarbaugh set up Shaw.
He is basically black Carr. Yet all the hate. Hilarious to me.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:17 PM ^
And yes, I could probably bump him up based on this season.
But I'm specifically talking about "since Shaw's been the head coach"
I'm not huge on taking full resume's...that's like saying Spurrier or Beamer are still elite coaches.
Both Stoops and Shaw have lost 14 games since Shaw became head coach. In fact, their resume's are about equal if you look at them. Dantonio right there with those 2.

no need to call that timeout with 30 seconds left - Shaw might have been smart enough to call timeout for Stanford there, but you should have forced him to do that.
30 seconds was plenty of time to call what you wanted to call, or let ten more seconds run off the clock before calling timeout.
Would have had enough timeouts to run what you needed to run.
I thought Kelly left too much time watching it live.

Did I sense Harbaugh cracking just a little smile?

People said that last year and then look what happened
November 28th, 2015 at 11:09 PM ^
Last year OSU won the B1G. Can't happen this year (and on top of that, Iowa will have a very hard time against Staee)
November 28th, 2015 at 11:07 PM ^
November 28th, 2015 at 11:03 PM ^
Its moot now with Oklahoma winning
Clemson or NC
Bama
Oklahoma
Iowa or MSU
And yes NC would have a better resume than OSU if they win. OSu schedule sucks.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:10 PM ^
the defending national champions with one loss by three points to a top 5 team?
I think you're dreaming.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:12 PM ^
Not even close.
I'm not sure I agree, but it's not out of the question.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:13 PM ^
UNC has better wins thhan OSU
OSU has 1 quality win all year - UM. One.
UNC beats Clemson would rock anything OSU had. And they'd be a conf champion.

first thing you've said in days that I agree with, but I think you're on the money with this one.
I think it's wishful thinking to think UNC could leapfrog those assholes. I wish it weren't so, but I'm pretty sure that's how it is.
Committee may even hold the academic scandal against UNC.
OSU has so much sway with any sort of committee and would be defending national champs attempting to defend their title - and travels unbelievably well.
Clemson wouldn't end up #1 if they get beat. If MSU beats Iowa, rankings won't look good for keeping OSU out. I also just looked at UNC's schedule and results. It's not good.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:32 PM ^
November 28th, 2015 at 11:26 PM ^
The committee holds conference champions in higher regard. That's been stated over and over in the playoff process. How could they not reward NC for knocking off the #1 team in the country and becoming the ACC conference champion? Why give OSU that reward? I mean both teams will have just one loss.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:11 PM ^
Clemson
Bama
Oklahoma
Iowa/MSU
...and honestly, that's probably how it should be.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:03 PM ^
Now if Florida wins the SEC, OSU may sneak in... or Stanford... pending on PAC12 results.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:14 PM ^
Florida who has put up 14 pts in 2 weeks if going to beat Bama. Sure.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:27 PM ^
I've seen crazier things happen as a Michigan fan and so have you.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:04 PM ^
they win and OSU is out.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:15 PM ^
I think the locks for the playoff are Oklahoma and Iowa/MSU. If they win, Bama and Clemson take the last two
If Bama and/or Clemson lose, then you have to wonder who's next up.
- Florida may get in if they can beat Bama
- Does UNC get in for beating Clemson?
- Next up after that is OSU I'm afraid - unless the committee just DQ's them for not making the conference title game which is very much a possibility
November 28th, 2015 at 11:34 PM ^
Will be in the mix because they'll get the Pac-12 championship game W...so you may need them to lose too.

November 28th, 2015 at 11:06 PM ^
LSU maybe buys Miles a stay while they prep for some shitty bowl game. LSU 19 A&M 7
I don't know what to believe is going on in Baton Rouge. It's hard to not remember how horrible the reporting was last year while we were courting Harbaugh. Also, It just doesn't make sense to me for LSU to fire Miles with that $15M buyout hanging out there.

Mr. Yost its never too early for a 2016 depth chart!!
November 28th, 2015 at 11:19 PM ^
I thought about it...but last year I did it after the OSU loss and got RIPPED.
I'll wait for people to cool off a little.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:21 PM ^
Meh, why the fuck not!?
November 29th, 2015 at 1:08 AM ^
SDSU vs Nevada is also going :D
November 28th, 2015 at 11:22 PM ^
ROFL LES MILES SINGING ON ESPN bahhahahahahha
November 28th, 2015 at 11:26 PM ^
I respect that.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:28 PM ^
One can easily see why he would rub uptight and uppity Michigan admin people the wrong way.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:32 PM ^
It's why I've always said he'll never coach at Michigan.
To be honest, I really thought he was a good fit for the Big 12 or even the Pac 12...personality wise.
As of now, I'd like to see him with extended time to see if he could one day replace Corso. I really don't see him going somewhere else and being a good fit.
Maybe South Carolina...lol, Miami?
There really aren't many options for a 66-year old coach who's not really going to build something from the ground up.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:28 PM ^
Next weekend Les is on Gameday...I'd like to see how he does. You can bet they're going to offer him a ton to do it. They love those types of things.
They made Spurrier a guest pick in Ann Arbor for fucksake.
November 28th, 2015 at 11:40 PM ^
I said this AM Id like to see him replace Lee when the time comes.

BOOMER SOONER BOOMER SOONER BOOMER SOONER BOOMER SOONER BOOMER SOONER BOOMER SOONER BOOMER SOONER O-K-U
after every single first down and touchdown. Those lyrics though...
November 28th, 2015 at 11:45 PM ^
UNC gets in if they beat Clemson. Carolina hasn't lost since August.
The only danger I see (danger meaning OSU sneaking in) is if Alabama flakes out and loses to Florida.
ACC, Big 12 and B1G champs are in.
