The Shaw hate on this thread is beyond hilarious.  He is a top 15 coach who coaches like Mike Debord and Carr.   Lots of teams would kill to have him as a coach.

Including Michigan if we didn't have Harbaugh...

You can do a lot worse than Shaw.

Like I said, he's lost 14 games while at Stanford. Hell, Les Miles has lost more during the same period.

I'm not claiming he's elite. But like I've said, who's elite? Harbaugh, Meyer, Saban. End of list.

After that, Dabo is coming...Jimbo Fisher is coming.

Then what? Brian Kelly, David Shaw, Dantonio, Gundy, Stoops, Richt, Patterson?

I mean he's right there with that 3rd tier...I'm sure I'm forgetting some guys, but that's still better most everyone else.

I hate that this thread has turned me into some kind of David Shaw lover...I'm not. But he's right there with the names I mentioned.

Stoops is elite.  People forget his long term track record.  Lost a few steps here past 3 years but regaining it.  He has a Bo like win % in an era of far more parity and scholarship reductions.

Shaw is in that #10 to #15 range just like Carr was.  Carr was set up by Bo and Mo just like HHarbaugh set up Shaw.

He is basically black Carr.  Yet all the hate.  Hilarious to me.

And yes, I could probably bump him up based on this season.

But I'm specifically talking about "since Shaw's been the head coach"

I'm not huge on taking full resume's...that's like saying Spurrier or Beamer are still elite coaches.

Both Stoops and Shaw have lost 14 games since Shaw became head coach. In fact, their resume's are about equal if you look at them. Dantonio right there with those 2.

no need to call that timeout with 30 seconds left - Shaw might have been smart enough to call timeout for Stanford there, but you should have forced him to do that.

30 seconds was plenty of time to call what you wanted to call, or let ten more seconds run off the clock before calling timeout.

Would have had enough timeouts to run what you needed to run.

I thought Kelly left too much time watching it live.

Its moot now with Oklahoma winning

Clemson or NC

Bama

Oklahoma

Iowa or MSU

And yes NC would have a better resume than OSU if they win.  OSu schedule sucks.

first thing you've said in days that I agree with, but I think you're on the money with this one.

I think it's wishful thinking to think UNC could leapfrog those assholes. I wish it weren't so, but I'm pretty sure that's how it is.

Committee may even hold the academic scandal against UNC.

OSU has so much sway with any sort of committee and would be defending national champs attempting to defend their title - and travels unbelievably well.

Clemson wouldn't end up #1 if they get beat. If MSU beats Iowa, rankings won't look good for keeping OSU out. I also just looked at UNC's schedule and results. It's not good.

I think the locks for the playoff are Oklahoma and Iowa/MSU. If they win, Bama and Clemson take the last two

If Bama and/or Clemson lose, then you have to wonder who's next up.

  • Florida may get in if they can beat Bama
  • Does UNC get in for beating Clemson?
  • Next up after that is OSU I'm afraid - unless the committee just DQ's them for not making the conference title game which is very much a possibility

LSU maybe buys Miles a stay while they prep for some shitty bowl game.  LSU 19 A&M 7

I don't know what to believe is going on in Baton Rouge.  It's hard to not remember how horrible the reporting was last year while we were courting Harbaugh.  Also, It just doesn't make sense to me for LSU to fire Miles with that $15M buyout hanging out there.

It's why I've always said he'll never coach at Michigan.

To be honest, I really thought he was a good fit for the Big 12 or even the Pac 12...personality wise.

As of now, I'd like to see him with extended time to see if he could one day replace Corso. I really don't see him going somewhere else and being a good fit.

Maybe South Carolina...lol, Miami?

There really aren't many options for a 66-year old coach who's not really going to build something from the ground up.

Next weekend Les is on Gameday...I'd like to see how he does. You can bet they're going to offer him a ton to do it. They love those types of things.

They made Spurrier a guest pick in Ann Arbor for fucksake.

UNC gets in if they beat Clemson. Carolina hasn't lost since August.

The only danger I see (danger meaning OSU sneaking in) is if Alabama flakes out and loses to Florida.

ACC, Big 12 and B1G champs are in.
