Night Games are a must!

Submitted by Tocco013 on
It is already 2009 and Michigan has yet to play one night game?????? Were way overdue. First of all, Watching a game at the best stadium in the U.S. with 100,000+ louder fans would be exciting and enticing to say the least. We need a petition michigan fans. 1. The stadium would be louder at night 2. One night game a year would be fine, what recruit wouldnt want to see the Big House at night? We need to petition and get this movement going. Come on Bill Martin, we need to re-energize our fan base with youth. We need fans to get out of their seats and scream, not yell at others for standing up! & Obviously we wouldnt be playing in November at night Why not a september game?

To expand on this: Alumnus - male graduate; also used of a single graduate when gender is not specified Alumna - female graduate Alumni - male graduates (plural), or a mixed-gender group of graduates Alumnae - a group of female graduates "Alum" - not a word

Alum is actually used as a vaccine adjuvant. It's currently the only one that has been given the okay for human use in the U.S. However, it is pronounced differently than the "alum" you are refering to.

Yea, but old people hit the sack at around 6PM. The geezers who sit around and knit on Saturday afternoons in the Big House wouldn't be cool with that "night" shit. "Down in front!"

i know right????? then we could get all SUPER DRUNK before the game and we'd be all YEAAAHHH FUCK YEAHHHHHH and it would rock super hard!!!!!! Night games are overrated. Also it's Michigan and it would probably be 24 degrees at night.

people here are like my nagging old grandmother. stop whining and write a letter to bill, protest on south main street or raise some funds. i'm sick of "hearing" about all these brilliant ideas.

I'm not a sound engineer. Why would it be louder at night? Do air molecules make more noise without daylight? But apart from that, I think our first nightgame would be a great time to bring out the black pant / black jersey look, with a bright maize helmet. Think how loud the stadium would be when we came out of the tunnel with those on! Maybe some fireworks and lasers too! oh, and old people suck.

I'm imagining a night game where you can tell where the QB is looking because he's got laser sights attached to the sides of his facemask. Pro: It would look SO badass. Con: Pass coverage becomes a little bit easier.

Now you're taking it a little too far with the lasers. I think just some flashing LEDs where the wings on the helmets are. The lasers should be used to replace the M Club banner. They'd look great at night!! We ought to consider getting rid of that marching band too. Only the old alumnis like them anyway. AND after every big play show on the scoreboard that clip from Red Dawn where they shout "Wolverines!". These kind of things would give us a much more cutting edge game day experience.

Could you imagine if the '08 Northwestern game was a night game, with that weather? Damn, yeah a night game would have to be the one of the first few games.

I am a huge backer of the make the big house loud folks. I really think we need to have a greater home field advantage, and this was the reason i finally jumped on the luxury box bandwagon. I for one do not want night games. I think doing these weird little traditions is what makes us unique and special. I am from the south and when i talk to a Alabama, Tenn, or Florida fan and they say they have surpassed us or are bigger programs than Michigan there is one reply. We are Michigan, you just dont get it. Go to a game and understand the tradition. We have no advertisement in the stadium. We don't pump in noise. We play football during the day like its supposed to be played. We don't over sign. We don't have lights in our stadium. There are several little things. We are special and football can change all it wants. This doesn't change the outcome of our season. Maybe we could have more 3:30 games so people can have some energy come game time and tailgate more.

There are light platforms on the new suites/press box to put lights on. However the University is not paying to put lights on. The lights on the towers that were seen last season were rented from Musco (i think) and paid for by the network televising the game. Those lights were then taken away after the season ended. So like others have said there are still no lights at the stadium. Just platforms for the network that is televising the game to put rental lights up.

why does this topic come up once every 3 weeks??? people as much as we want it to happen its never going to. michigan doesn't even do games at 3:30pm after the time change so what makes you think that they will do a night game early in the season??? it has already been said once on here, ann arbor around the stadium is not setup for a night game. there are barely if any street lights on the surounding streets where people park. there aren't lights on the golf course and the high schools parking lot is not the most lit thing in the world. plus ann arbor is a cluster fuck after an afternoon game, imagine what it would be like after a night game??? 100,000+ people wandering the streets in the dark at 12am!!!

All of our 3:30 games end up being night games by the fourth quarter, which is when it counts. Braylon v. MSU and Touchdown Manningham were both incredible atmospheres and incredibly dark by the second half (and incredibly cold). We already have night games, people.

I would fly back up there for a night game if they sold beer. And, though I am old, I would not be one of the assholes yelling "down in front." AAMOF, I would be the one yelling at the assholes to "get up and make some noise or go home."

While I like being loud, the idea of a night game, etc., I can't help but think that the amount of money donated by us young and rowdy youngin's is dwarfed by the colossal amount of cash the "shitty old fans" have given, and continue to give, to the school. This does not necessarily make them "better", but Bill Martin isn't going to ignore the concerns of a demographic that gives Michigan a lot of money.
