Nice B Edwards Article

Love his attitude.

He's gonna be scary when he lines up in the slot. As a Jets fan, I'm hoping we sign him long term before he blows up this season and demands Pro Bowl money.

Article also has a nice bonus jab at OSU:

(Ted Ginn had the biggest butterfingers of them all with one drop every 7.3 balls thrown his way).

As a Browns fan, I couldn't believe it when they let him go.  Then I realized, "Oh yeah.  We're the Browns.  I almost forgot."  Huge steal for the Jets.  The Browns didn't get much for him.

I'm glad they posted the dropped balls stats.  that was way over exagerrated in the Cleveland area.

Also, he was completely right about Cleveland fans never embracing him because he was from Michigan.  I had numerous friends/relative/co-workers state that they didn't like him simply because he was from Michigan.  "Of course he sucks.  He's from Michigan."  They may not have said it from day one, but he was definitely not given much leeway or support.

Now I have to hope for the success of Brian Robiskie, who obviously sucks because he is from OSU.

I'm from/live in Cleveland, and Braylon never had a chance.  It made me sick to my stomach.  The worst part is how defensive most Ohio State fans would get when you pointed out that everyone hates him because he had wings on his helmets.  They tried to act like it wasn't the case.  The only guy in that completely understood the homerism and called Ohio State fans out on it was Michael Reghi.  Imagine knowing that everytime you drop a ball your own fans, who didn't like you to begin with, will boo you mercilessly.  While I root for Michigan players in the NFL, my college allegiances stop in the NFL.  Of course I'm rooting for Brian Robiskie to be good because he's a Brown, I don't give a shit where he went to college, he's a Brown now.  That's not how it works on the other side, Ohio State fans want the Browns to be the Cleveland Buckeyes.  You wouldn't believe how many calls there were into local sports talk shows about how the Browns should pick up Troy Smith and Ted Ginn even though Ted Ginn is absolutely horrible.  They refuse to admit that AJ Hawk is a bust even though his tackle totals have gone down every year, and they bring him out on 3rd down because he's useless in pass coverage.  I can't wait for when the Jets come to town this year, I hope Braylon absolutely torches us.  I want the Browns to win of course, but I hope Braylon has 200 yards and 2 touchdowns.

As a Braylon fan, I hope that he blows up first and gets paid what he deserves, be it by the Jets or any other team.

Yeah, I think lots of Jets fans are too worried about his dropsies as well. He's definitely dropped some big/easy ones (2 easy sure touchdowns last year, one of which hit him in the helmet), but he also makes a lot of circus catches. I guess it's often been that way at UM too. I think he's maturing and will get his act (and focus) together to hopefully put this reputation to rest.

I think with Braylon it's always been the low level of difficulty and the horrific timing of his drops that make him the most frustrating.

Not that I don't love him 1000000000 points worth. He is my hero. I'll probably name my first born Braylon Edward.

In 2009, he had 4 drops.  In 2008, he led the league with 19 and his drop frequency was 6.73.  In 2007 he had 10 drops and his drop frequency was 8.0.  He deserved every bit of heat he got for his dropsies in Cleveland.

Cleveland fans got down on him early partly (if not mostly) because he went to Michigan, IME. He is still a top 10 WR in the NFL in my estimation. He will prove that in the coming years. Maybe he just wanted out of Cleveland? Who can blaim him...

Hopefully Braylon can get back to the form he showed at Michigan and early on in his NFL career.

Just curious, but does anybody know of a case where a receiver known for having a case of the dropsies noticeably changed up their game in some way to fix it? For example, Tiki Barber is the obvious example when it comes to tailbacks and fumbling. Obviously, pure conentration is the main factor, and some people are just born with better hands than others, but I have to believe that there are technical ways to work on catching a football.
