NFL/Lions Open Thread
Alright, the pregame shows are about to start. Trying to do what we did last week (so we can make it a habit), and as FormerlyAnonymous says and make it inclusive for the whole day's NFL action, with an obvious emphasis on the Lions. But also open to your favorite team for out of towners, and any Michigan player chatter. Catch a little pregame, and then I'm turning on Redzone.

...the NFL is an illusion of competition. May as well start an open thread about a WWE match.

what is and isn't a catch this week! NFL: the new Calvinball.
September 19th, 2010 at 11:38 AM ^
Huge Lions fan and I picked Philly in my survivor pool this week. Hedging bets or no confidence?
September 19th, 2010 at 11:39 AM ^
Will be put in a muzzle by KVB. Lions go to 2-0. GO LIONS!
September 19th, 2010 at 12:18 PM ^
Are we talking 1-1 but should be 2-0? I'm trying to act like last week was preseason, so this is week 1 for me. Let's go for 1-0 in a new 15 week NFL season.

Does anyone have a coverage map so I know what games I get this week?
thanks

However, it appears the website is now suspended for some reason.
I used to use:
If I come across a substitute, I'll let you know.

Just came back up in the last 30 seconds.
September 19th, 2010 at 12:40 PM ^

no less than 3 sacks for Mr. Graham.
September 19th, 2010 at 12:43 PM ^
Do not think Lions will beat Philly
Sorry

BG with the big sack! Nicely done Brandon!
September 19th, 2010 at 1:13 PM ^
Chad Henne still has parabolic beauty.
September 19th, 2010 at 1:17 PM ^
Is it just me or was that roughing the passer call bullshit? What was he supposed to do? magically stop is momentum after blocking the ball?
September 19th, 2010 at 1:18 PM ^
I have a deep hatred for NFL roughing the passer rules. I wish they'd just go all the way and outlaw any hit to the qb. Put a flag on him, make it two-hand touch, whatever. The way it is now, they just make defensive players play scared around the qb, and it hurts the game.
September 19th, 2010 at 1:20 PM ^
Vikings just had one called on a tap of Chad Henne. Not enough to even make him take one step backward to gain his ground. Didn't matter as he threw a TD, ergo declining the penalty, but that shit is stupid.
September 19th, 2010 at 1:26 PM ^
Pretty soon, they'll be banning sacks altogather. They need to change the blow to the head rule to make sure there is a clear downward violent motion to call it. Because every time I see that penalty called, it seems unwarrented. Total BS.

September 19th, 2010 at 1:30 PM ^
The left gaurd moved on that one. What the hell?
September 19th, 2010 at 1:37 PM ^
After last week. Don't they??
September 19th, 2010 at 1:37 PM ^
Jackson did not finish the "process" of that catch. But watch, this will be called a catch. Just you watch
September 19th, 2010 at 1:52 PM ^
The announcers and that Mike Pereira douche still thought it was a close call. I don't understand how it was even in question that it wasn't a catch after last week. I don't understand how they thought it was more of a catch than Calvin's last week. Doesn't make any sense and that rule needs to be reassessed.
September 19th, 2010 at 1:47 PM ^
would have survived the afternoon had he not overturned the call of complete. The crowd would have been on the verge of a riot, and Schwartz would have been in a murderous rage.
September 19th, 2010 at 1:47 PM ^
That was a Zoltan-esque punt.
September 19th, 2010 at 2:03 PM ^
Coming in for the Steelers.
September 19th, 2010 at 2:11 PM ^
Without using their offense. Can you go undefeated doing that? Seems like they're going to try.
September 19th, 2010 at 2:19 PM ^
This kid is a beast. Time to get a Best jersey.
September 19th, 2010 at 2:19 PM ^
Man they look good right now. Best is really playing well.
September 19th, 2010 at 2:26 PM ^
You sassy, tricksters,
trying to entice me with a fleeting show of competence.
I hear your siren-call, pulling at the heartstrings of my fandom.
But I remember the lessons of my mother,
fool me once, shame on me,
fool me 917 times, shame on YOU!
September 19th, 2010 at 2:27 PM ^
Ha! Got you.
