With only one day to go before the NFL Draft starts, I wanted to look at where some of the Michigan upperclassmen who entered might go.

Looking through the link above, I found 8 Wolverines getting drafted this year!

In the table below, I have listed the player, his round, how many other players at this position were taken before him, and the names that jumped out at me of those players, and their round. Below that, are some names that popped even though they aren't directly competing with a Wolverine.

Something to argue about for a day or so!  [my takes:  Olu too low? No Gemon Green?]

I am reminiscing 80s Unix system outputs that used to print in those big ass printers. Good times ;)

Olu is too low. If he falls that far, it is a steal.

Watch for Ronnie to get paired up with DPJ here in Cleveland.  One thing our FO does a lot of is interview players they project will be UFAs so they can move quickly on them once the draft ends in unclaimed or available late.

Bell has had two, maybe three meetings with the Browns already.

They've got 3 Buckeyes in the first twelve picks......Uggh.

That seems a little high for Schoonmaker and a little low for Morris.  If teams leave Olu on the board that long they'd be fools.

Olu in the 5th round is an absolute steal

Also, I know Morris didn't perform well at the combine but Zach Harrison in the 3rd round and Morris in the 5th is laughable

Yeah, Harrison has bust written all over him.  With his physical gifts/size, one would have expected big things from him against college competition.  Didn’t happen.  Why would anyone expect him to magically transform to effective playing against guys his physical equal?  Just seems as if something is missing.

Yeah, I'd be surprised if Harrison went in the 3rd round.  He's a plus athlete but not a freak and his actual production on the field wasn't good enough that teams are likely to think "he's just a coach away" from being a beast.  Morris has a lower athletic ceiling but he's been a better player and has, in my opinion, more positional flexibility since he could slot in at either end or tackle depending on your defensive alignment.  Harrison's weakness as a run stopper locks in more as an edge rusher with limited production in that role.

If Morris and Olu don't go until the fifth round, I will eat a hat.

Olu was the best center in college football. That doesn't make you a first rounder necessarily, but it darn sure doesn't make you a fifth rounder unless you are woefully undersized. Which Olu doesn't appear to be.
