Greeks for Harbaugh

Great, new information that everyone already knew. Now we are going to give this guy unwarranted credibility.

You're a troll.  Man, I kept thinking you were just the biggest downer on the board but now I get it.  Well played.  You didn't come in strong like a lot of trolls do.  You kept it cool, didn't go too negative too quick, just threw out pissy little comments like you were a grumpy old man who was new to the internet.

Those stupid comments you left on the Beveled Guilt page were genius they were so non-troll like.  We all bit and started arguing with you.  But then I saw this comment and it gave you away.  But you were able to hide better than most trolls.

Well done, now go delete this profile and start a new one so we can play this game again.

Nothing is signed yet and the Raiders ( and the rest of the NFL) has from the final whistle on Sunday until Tuesday to comply with the Rooney rule and offer Harbaugh 50 Million dollars and total control.

My buzz has been harshed.

Wouldn't the "under contract" thing prevent him from signing at Michigan too?

If SF fires him on Sunday (as has been rumored) isn't it open season?

If he quits, wouldn't Michigan have to buy him out? Assuming we are buying him out, couldn't an NFL team step in and make SF an offer to get permission to talk?

I honestly have no idea how this works. I am more than willing to be corrected and return my buzz to it's unharshed status.

It has been pointed out many times on this board that NFL rules prohibit any other NFL team from contacting a coach while he is under contract with another franchise. The rules say nothing about NCAA member institutions.

Baalke mentioned this week that Michigan has "done it the right way", which many have taken to mean that they sought a favorable outcome for all parties (the league notwithstanding). Michigan didn't have to buy out Harbaugh's contract, but likely has in order to use it's leverage as an NFL outsider to maximum effect. It appears to have worked.

Your speculation seems right to me.

But I also think the 49ers could give permission to another NFL team to talk to him, especially if they pay or give up a draft pick. (I have no idea if a team would do so.)

Even if Michigan has negotiated an exclusive right to talk to him, that wouldn't matter if another team offered more.

This all assumes that Davis would follow the rules and not try to screw the 49ers.

they wouldn't wait until the final few hours to give him permission to talk to another team. If Oakland was going to trade for Harbaugh, why wouldn't they have a deal in place already? It would be in both team's best interests.

Tampering is a very big deal. These leagues don't take kindly to owners breaking the rules to screw another owner.
