I didnt know there was ever an attendance number given for the Michigan game. I dont think "about 60,000" counts as an attendance number.

I knew who the OP of this thread was before clicking. Spring games for you are like when freshmen jersey numbers are announced or when the new line of Michigan gear is out for me.

Nebraska had more people at their Spring Game than a max capacity crowd at MSU's stadium.

You're half right—wikipedia lists the Sparty official capacity as 75,005, but then sez the record crowd at Spartan Stadium is 80, 401.

I hate when people have to resort to "Well there's nothing else to do in state x" meme. Fact is if ours was later in April and we had better weather we could easily get that many.

what happens when there isn't another major school nor single pro team in the state? rabid fandom. these people are dying to attend a sporting event. good for them; great people in lincoln.

My original thought was, "how in Sam Fuck are they more excited about Mike Riley than we are about Harbaugh?" But an excellant point was made, Ive been to Nebraska, and there is NOTHING to do there except worship a college football team. And shuck corn.

Mike Riley is a better coach than you'd think who turned out some pros in Corevallis. I think Nebraska people were tired of being gashed for 400 rushing yards game after game, losing basically every top 25 matchup and Pelini was also super abrasive. You gotta do better than 9-4 to be a dick. Cool cat though...

They fired a guy who never won more than 11 games a year, took their team to a BCS game or won the conference and hired a guy who never won more than 10 games, took his team to a BCS game or won his conference.

In three years, they'll be looking for another coach.

I know people laugh at him and the hire, but I think he will do a pretty solid job there.

You don't even have to be that good to win the West Division.

While that was probably the worst game I've seen Wisconsin play (and I lived in Madison during the Don Morton years), they're 2-1 in the Big Ten Championship game.

That includes a 70-31 win over Nebraska the year without Russell Wilson.

It's not so much laughing at the hire as it is being completely amazed at the hire. So amazed that it leaves you dumbstruck. And I watched the basketball game where Nebraska beat Sparty and the crowd went wild when it was pointed out that Riley was sitting in the seats. These are his 12 seasons worth of records at Oregon State: 8-5, 7-5, 5-6, 10-4, 9-5, 9-4, 8-5, 5-7, 3-9, 8-4, 7-6 and 5-7. Some other stats: * A 58-63 record in conference games. * A 3-9 record against biggest rival Oregon. * Two home losses to I-AA teams: Sacremento State and Eastern Washington * 21 losses to teams with losing records. * Zero conference titles * Most notable bowl games earned: A trip to the Alamo and two to the Las Vegas Bowl. Whatever Nebraksa fans see in this guy, I'm not understanding the excitement. He's piled a record that is much worse than the two last coaches they fired and he has the exact same record as Brady Hoke's last three years (only with a worse defense). Isn't it understandable that people would be a little freaked if a guy with this kind of resume would be hired to coach their team? He was hired before we got Harbaugh and I remember Michigan fans were scared to death because if THIS was the best Nebraska could get, who the hell were we going to get? Thankfully, it worked out for us. But Riley to Nebraska is STILL a head scratcher.
