who runs Nike....I guess it's a big company or something.

With the post right under this.

M-Wolv's point Nike is headquartered just outside Portland (Beaverton) so not likely they're going to be supporting Cornhusker football.

I have a hunch that the Nike CEO would not supply iPads to a school sponsored by Adidas.

You're thinking of Warren Buffet, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, perennial member of the Forbes Richest People.

Our new basketball practice facilities will have ipads in the lockers for each player.
September 3rd, 2011 at 12:20 PM ^
Suh donated all of them....funny thing is they are never allowed to leave the lockers.
September 3rd, 2011 at 12:50 PM ^
Ipads, big deal. My kid's CYO team gives each player two (2) thighPads!

Well it might be for sale since Oregon Football won't be needing it.

Holy SHIT. Those are absolutely unreal.
September 3rd, 2011 at 11:36 AM ^
that Ndamukong Suh donated a couple million to the school when he signed his deal with the Lions. I'm sure that helped.

IPad bankroller.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:30 PM ^
Have you ever been on University of Nebraska campus? I have, the IPAD's are given to make up for a boring campus otherwise.
September 3rd, 2011 at 11:36 AM ^
Ya i've been in there facilities ( not for like 7 years) but the people who live there have no other teams to donate to or follow so they throw the kitchen sink and anything else you can think of to help out NU's sports programs.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:33 PM ^
It has been 3 years for me, but you are right. This is their only sports team to cheer for, really sad.
September 3rd, 2011 at 11:38 AM ^
Suh donated those.
September 3rd, 2011 at 11:40 AM ^
Still doesn't make up for being stuck in Lincoln for 4/5 years
September 3rd, 2011 at 12:07 PM ^
For all of those who criticize Brandon's marketing efforts, this is what $$ can buy. Obviously there needs to be a balance but this is the reality of college sports.
September 3rd, 2011 at 12:41 PM ^
Something tells me the University of Michigan Football Program doesn't have a $$ problem.

I believe DB has stated recently that due to the upgrades, the athletic department is now running in the red.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:23 PM ^
Not on a fiscal-year basis, but we do have a long-term debt of something like $170M to retire.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:01 PM ^
with things like the iPad is that they'll be much less cool when the next version comes out. So, next year it'll be the iPad 3 and the year after it'll be the iPad 4. So, the recruiting effect is limited because in a couple years it won't be as shiny.
I would have to think that the recruits that we would want wouldn't be swayed merely by an iPad in their locker.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:04 PM ^
Sorry for negging. Overreaction on my part...I should've just let it go. Basically, I don't see why people always freak out about Ipads and TVs in lockerrooms/team rooms. They're $500 an ipad retail.
Compared to a 25-million dollar indoor practice facility, a 228-million dollar stadium renovation, a million dollar weight room renovation...Ipads for 100 football players is just fluff. I guess that's my point.
Great gesture by Suh, not to take away from that.
September 3rd, 2011 at 1:29 PM ^
And you really want to pay kids to play football?
Nothing against Nebraska, but maybe someone should spend some money and figure out how they can again become part of the AAU.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:09 PM ^
Why aren't iPads considered extra benefits? Suh, once graduated, essentially became a booster, no?
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
I presume they can't take them out of there.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:46 PM ^
I'm torn about the NU iPad for football player program. iPads can be considered an educational tool, and the football coaches could creatively use it as a portal to upload scouting reports, game video, game plans, etc. (would suck if a ball player was careless and let it get into the wrong hands, though. Do we have any sleeper agents in Lincoln to work on this?!). So maybe this is the party line on how it's not considered an extra benefit from a booster? I just don't know.
September 3rd, 2011 at 5:05 PM ^
iPads were mounted to locker doors inside of a padlocked frame. No players use them. An iStupid application. Otherwise, their facilities are pretty nice. Suh's weight room is sick Ours are overall far better.
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:47 PM ^
A lot of people seem to be impressed with the iPads, but I was more talking about the weight room, the locker rooms (aside from the iPads) and the lounge.
Has to be some of the nicest facilities in college sports.
