NCAAFB: UCLA @ Washington
Jake Locker on Senior Night. Black out in beautiful Huskie Stadium. Cripple Fight in the Pac 10.
Washington (-2.5) hosting UCLA. I'll reluctantly take Washington to cover.
Alabama (-eleventy billion) hosting Georgia State on ESPNU. Why is Alabama playing on a Thursday night on a non-network?
Air Force (-19.5) on the road at apparently home field advantaged UNLV (10pm ET). Game is on CBS College Sports for those interested. Spread is wide, but I'm liking AF to cover.

It's been awhile, but I remember going to a couple games there. The stadium is not half empty, those beige seats that are open are for the band I think. Either way, they should be conscious of how it looks on tv.

I would imagine Bama is playing tonight so that the team gets 7 full days to prepare for the Iron Bowl. This is especially important since Auburn will have 12 full days to prepare for the same.

Washington looks like garbage thus far.
November 18th, 2010 at 9:19 PM ^
First round garbage according to Mel Kiper's coif. Or at some point he twas.

Aaaaand Locker throws a "What were you thinking?!" interception.
November 18th, 2010 at 8:37 PM ^
I don't believe you. He's going to win a Heisman, I heard back in August.
November 18th, 2010 at 8:54 PM ^
I haerd that too! I thought it was between him and Jevan Snead for the award.

he told me that there's a RB, Derrick Coleman, for UCLA who is deaf. He's not the starting back but he's been productive, judging from his stats. Pretty impressive that he is playing RB especially with his hearing disability.

The Pete Carroll ex-assistants bowl. Sarkisian and Norm Chow proving once again that a guy looks a whole heck of a lot more brilliant when he has mid-2000s USC talent.
November 18th, 2010 at 8:44 PM ^
I can't blame Chow. He's been given horrible options at QB since coming to UCLA, so he brought in and is executing a heavy-run oriented offense that probably wasn't his comfort zone.
Everything I've always heard about Chow is a great passing scheme coach. He's just had Kevin Craft and Kevin Prince tank pretty hard.

I just flipped over to that Alabama game. It was 35-0, Alabama, with about 7 minutes left in the first half, and the Alabama kicker just forced a fumble. That game is, in a word, stupid.
November 18th, 2010 at 8:45 PM ^
Why watch UCLA vs Washington, when you can watch Alabama playing the very competitive Georgia State? No cupcake games for the reigning NC.
November 18th, 2010 at 9:04 PM ^
Apparently, according to wiki, this year is Georgia State's first FCS football team. Ever. So, yeah...kinda like UMASS, but eleventy billion times worse. Is there anything below a baby seal?
Source? Source.

Manatee?

Even though GSU is in their first year, it's a very large school that is putting a lot of money into it's program, and is in one of the most talent rich metropolitan areas in the country. They have already clinched a winning season (6-4 coming into tonight) and they nearly beat a Jacksonville St. team that beat Ole Miss and has spent much of the season ranked in the FCS top ten.
So basically, they're not that bad a "baby seal". Probably right in the middle of Del. St and UMass.

Their coach's pregame speech was lame. It was all"nobody thought we could do this, and we did. Nobody thought we could do that, and we did." All the players were like "yes sir". He should have added, "everybody thinks Alabama will destroy us, and they will!".

commercials keep playing? All over ESPN? At seemingly random times too? (like at 9am during sportscenter)
I guess they're really determined to recruit students there, huh?
November 18th, 2010 at 9:14 PM ^
I'm not getting them in Texas. Must be the local cable company selling ads.
November 18th, 2010 at 9:33 PM ^
I'm not exactly close to PSU either...I'm actually closer to you, in Oklahoma. And I have Dish Network. That's why I'm really perplexed...
November 19th, 2010 at 9:29 AM ^
It does seem odd and very random.

"Where were you mother fucker"
-Nick Holt, that last video clip of him.
November 18th, 2010 at 9:18 PM ^
is not that impressive. I mean, I know he has the physical build, but the way that Kiper and Co. drool over him make me feel like he should be a superstar and I just don't see it...
November 19th, 2010 at 12:44 AM ^
I've never understood it either. Everytime I've watched him, he's been wildly inconsistent.
November 18th, 2010 at 10:36 PM ^
God that holding penalty hurts. I was about to say that with this field position, -2.5 was starting to look good.
November 18th, 2010 at 10:41 PM ^
I would not be bothered with the Lions drafting Locker as opposed to starting that glass house named Matthew Stafford.
November 18th, 2010 at 11:05 PM ^
I seriously do not get the Locker love. I've seen a few of his games, and he's not bad or anything, but I've never seen anything to warrant the amount of praise he gets. I must be missing something, right?
November 18th, 2010 at 11:24 PM ^
was healthy from high school to college. Stafford played behind a bad OL at UGA and was fine. He's not injury prone and was just unlucky with the injuries.
Locker is overrated as a QB prospect and shouldn't be mentioned as a 1st round pick.
November 18th, 2010 at 10:51 PM ^
I don't know if it's just me, but there are a lot of holding penalties and illegal blocks in the back. Ugly game.
November 18th, 2010 at 10:52 PM ^
What the point of a blackout at night??? For the opposing team to not see the crowd>
November 18th, 2010 at 11:14 PM ^
I live in Seattle. I dont get it either. He's got some great physical tools but has never been that great. I guess he has been an exciting player to watch.
November 19th, 2010 at 9:11 AM ^
UCLA is terrible and deserved to lose by far more.
Nice to see Air Force come back from a ten point deficit to take care of business against UNLV.
