National Championship odds
Saw this on ESPN.com:
Michigan was listed as a 500-1 longshot to win the National Championship heading into Week 4. The Wolverines were moved to 60-1 after they dismantled BYU on Saturday. Could a rebuilding year quickly turn into a playoff run? Week 5 betting notes (Insider)
Probably comes with the territory of becoming ranked, but I wouldnt have minded putting a few bucks down at 500-1.

Absolutely--Northwestern is no joke this year.
But I think a huge factor for them are key injuries without the depth to cover. One of the bummers from their Ball State win was how many guys got sidelined.
Also in Michigan's favor: playing Maryland when Northwestern is playing a tougher Minnesota team. Minnesota could be called a 'trap' game, where Maryland--not to jinx anything--should be over in the 1st quarter.

Vegas Insider actually has us at 50/1, if anyone is interested - LINK
Other current odds within the Big Ten:
Ohio State - 9/5
Michigan State - 8/1
Iowa - 250/1
Wisconsin - 300/1
Penn State - 750/1
As others have mentioned, of course, we haven't played a conference game yet, so take the odd from different sites for what you will.

Love the progress, but I'm still in "I just hope we beat Maryland" mode.

On Judge Judy becomes open, then I will worry about Jim. Even more so if they make his Mom the baliff, and a tribunal is formed with the Judge, Jim, and his Dad. You can simply say "He gone" if that were to happen.

The most encouraging thing about this entire thread...is that when one looks at the college football landscape, its easy to see how close Michigan actually is to being a NC contender.
It (probably) won't happen this year, due to inefficiences on Offense. However with the large number of returing starters next season, plus some key acquisitions at key positions....a NC is a possibility.
Many top coaches win their first NC in season 2. Its happening.

It's true it probably won't happen but what's wrong with daydreaming? Michigan is 3-1 and is playing about as well as anybody in the country right now. There are 8 games left to play and anything can happen, whether it's the 8 or 9 win season a lot of us hoped for or it's something even greater.

I share in that exuberance but we've played exactly one dominant game against a good opponent. I agree we looked unbelievable against BYU and I don't believe it's a mirage. We have tougher opponents to play still. It's a long season and depth may end up being an issue as it is with all teams. Our major constraint appears to be QB. Rudock looked good last game. But that's 1 ouf of 4 games where he looked good. In the other three he threw 5 picks, 3 against a good team. How often we get Good Jake vs Bad Jack will determine whether we hit 8 wins or higher. I expect him to improve and get comforable and Good Jake will be more prevelant.
