National Championship Game Open Thread
Well, it'll probably be a short thread, since everyone has already said they're not watching tonight. But for those that are, it's the end of college football on the field for awhile. Gameday on. Pregame in about half an hour. It'll keep us busy till the Two and a Half Men Open thread starts later tonight.

Yeah ok. Somebody is watching a little too much ESPN. Oregon-LSU was a good game and Bama gave up 325 rushing yards to Georgia Southern...

Dee hart sighting
January 9th, 2012 at 9:03 PM ^
Oh yeah!
January 9th, 2012 at 9:03 PM ^
Bama apparently only trusts McCarron to throw into the flats.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:04 PM ^
At least OSU-LSU would have been exciting and offense-oriented. This is painful and feels exactly like the first game.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:04 PM ^
Wow, that catch by Norwood might just be the play of the game.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:05 PM ^
"Honey Badger better care about that one." Should be, Honey Badger better give a shit about that one.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:06 PM ^
Someone should show VaTech fans that catch. See how he had control of the ball and it didn't move when he hit the ground? That's a catch. Coale's was not.

I see that Nissan Frontier commercial one more time...
January 9th, 2012 at 9:12 PM ^
Cruel world
January 9th, 2012 at 10:03 PM ^
I may be stating the obvious, but isn't that commercial just a ripoff of the "double rainbow" video on YouTube? Again, who is paying these idiots to come up with this stuff?
January 9th, 2012 at 9:08 PM ^
I think someone should make a realistic version of that Nissan Frontier plane-saving commercial where the truck is crushed and there's a big explosion.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:08 PM ^
If Bama can score here I can see them running away with this one. Jordan Jefferson is terrible.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:09 PM ^
Bama will score - a FG.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:12 PM ^
final. book it.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:09 PM ^
More commercial bitching: Hyundai's way of showing you their loyalty is for YOU to buy another of their products. Someone explain how this makes any sense.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:10 PM ^
Anyone else giggle when you heard Brent say "he's got a wide-open Smelly..."? Lol
January 9th, 2012 at 9:10 PM ^
At the risk of sounding like a certain running back coach, Mathieu is like Kovacs...with SPEED!
January 9th, 2012 at 9:11 PM ^
Kovacs would have made that tackle
January 9th, 2012 at 9:16 PM ^
They have similar styles, are under-sized, and excel in run support--except Mathieu can really move.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:10 PM ^
Eh, it's not a good fake unless you get it to your long-snapper.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:11 PM ^
Short by a centimeter.
EDIT: not so much
January 9th, 2012 at 9:11 PM ^
From Brady Hoke.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:12 PM ^
But that was a WAY favorable spot.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:12 PM ^
Challenge the spot?
January 9th, 2012 at 9:12 PM ^
Love the call
January 9th, 2012 at 9:12 PM ^
January 9th, 2012 at 9:12 PM ^
Bad spot. He was short.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:13 PM ^
How does Alabama get by with such pedestrian QBs over the years? McCarron, McElroy, John Parker Wilson, Croyle, etc.
I realize some of the above are not Saban recruits but you would think a blue chip quarterback would love to walk into a team like Bama's that always has solid defenders and a stout running game.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:14 PM ^
DEFENSE. Griese wasn't a super stud QB, either. Better than McCarron, but not an Andrew Luck or anything
January 9th, 2012 at 9:19 PM ^
January 9th, 2012 at 9:25 PM ^
I think they make it abundantly clear to these QBs that you will not throw the ball much, you will hand off and let the defense win the game, and most good QBs don't want to deal with that. If I was an elite QB prospect, handing off to a bunch of talented (if a bit overrated) RBs and having a coach who prides himself on his defense over offense doesn't seem very appealing.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:14 PM ^
The person responsible for the Tostitos commercials should be fired immediately.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:09 PM ^
Completely agree. And while we're on the subject of shitty commercials, who came up with the Subway "baby voice" commercials? Terrible idea. Truly awful.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:15 PM ^
are these teams faster and more athletic than all Big Ten teams?
January 9th, 2012 at 9:17 PM ^
Yes. OSU is close, but not quite at their level.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:21 PM ^
January 9th, 2012 at 9:15 PM ^
Do you know how much of an asshat someone will look if they bought this and alabama loses?
January 9th, 2012 at 9:18 PM ^
I more interested in that framed photo of a NASCAR crash on the right.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:19 PM ^
scratch that.. it's a TV..
January 9th, 2012 at 9:16 PM ^
January 9th, 2012 at 9:16 PM ^
So much for that fake field goal meaning anything.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:17 PM ^
Alright, I'm really hoping that Terry Richardson ends up being our Tyrann Mathieu (you know after he adds 20 lbs). Both 5'9", both play special teams, both have good closing speed...too much to ask for?
January 9th, 2012 at 9:20 PM ^
It's always too much to ask for a kid to become a first team All-American.
January 9th, 2012 at 9:24 PM ^
Disagree. It's a known expectation in my house that my kids will become first team all-americans. Demand excellence from the beginning, and what can go wrong?
January 9th, 2012 at 9:27 PM ^
Todd Marinovich takes a break from shooting up heroin and says sup?
January 9th, 2012 at 9:17 PM ^
I didn't know I DVR'd the first game.
