Never count Sparty out. They almost always punch above their weight & beat teams with more talent. One team you can’t take for granted. If we respected them more we’d win more.

He's a good WR but I can see why he'd want to take a shot at the NFL given he struggled somewhat with injuries this year and isn't going to get any bigger.

I do think next year will be a telling one for MSU.  Most of their better performers were upperclassmen brought in by Dantonio and/or transfers like Walker.  This will be year 3 (or really 2 given COVID weirdness) where Tucker's guys are going to be stepping into roles and having to perform.  They've recruited...fine but it's not been gangbusters and he's likely going to be revamping his defense a bit as well.

I don't think MSU fans have quite accepted or even realized the reality of their situation for next season. No Walker. No Nailor. They just barely beat a team with their 3rd string QB and coach who basically gave up at halftime.

Nailor?!  I barely even know her!  Obligatory.

MSU will always be a sweaty palms kind of game for me.  We always get their best and rarely match that with our best.  I agree with another poster, if we respected them more we would beat them more often.  I know that's hard to do but WTF I am tired of losing to them.

So many people on this board act like MSU is historically equivalent to Illinois. They aren't. Sure, they have the bad/terrible season every once in a while, but typically they are hovering around a being a "good" team. We typically hover around being a pretty good to great team. In a one game, emotional, rivalry scenario, there's not much difference between "good" and "pretty good," hence the slightly than better .500 record we have against them since they joined the conference.

I will never grasp the view that MSU is not a real rival, or that they are not relevant.  There were more of those silly "bump in the road" comments about losing to them in that Pitt game thread.  Nonsense.  It is an interstate rivalry, and those match-ups are one of the things that make college athletics so enjoyable.   Trivializing that feeds their motivation, and recent history shows that seems to makes a difference that is not working in our favor.
