MSU Weekend: Recruit reactions?
Looking at a different part of the game, this weekend was a huge recruiting weekend for us. Anyone hear anything about recruit reactions?
I found these 2 articles on Scout:
Both of them have extremely positive reactions from the weekend, with Long saying he liked Michigan more than Notre Dame.

I have a 247 subscription, so I won't delve too much into what they said. However, I will say that, with regard to Nauta, the team's response to losing struck him in a very positive way.

but you learn more about someone's character by how they handle losing. In this case, a major crash and burn type of loss. I was wondering how recruits would react to how the game was lost, because it seemed like Harbaugh handled it quite well.

It's nice to see a kid understand that everything isn't always going to be sunshine and roses.

Sparty logic:
1) Idiot fans on Twitter throwing a player under the bus = Harbaugh throwing the player under the bus;
2) Being figuratively thrown under a bus is worse than having your hip fractured by your own teammates in a celebration pile;
3) Therefore, we are outraged at the flagrant disrespect.

Especially capturing the disrespect part.

that they blocked our punt and ran the ball in.

David Long and I definitely have something in common. I too like Michigan much more than Notre Dame.
(I hope the recruits attending understand that MSU won an a fluke play - mostly fair and square, IMO, but on a fluke play. And I suspect they could see that Michigan's star is rising. So positive reactions won't surprise me.)

Considering our small drop in rankings in coaches and AP poll, and the few ESPN videos I've seen/ articles I've read (been trying to avoid any videos with the play), it seems everyone outside of East Lansing/RCMB realizes that it was a lucky, one in a thousand, miracle play.

It was a heartbreaking loss. No question about it.
But it wasn't an embarrassing loss. Nothing that transpired would cause a kid to question where the program is headed and the quality of the coaching the players receive.

sure one or more Spartys made the treats and if not, what, one or two nut cases? This needs to be put in perspective.

My two favorite teams are University of Michigan and whomever plays Notre Dame that week.

Like it a little more. I read a couple of articles earlier from the visiting recruits. They loved it! Loved the Coach, Loved the Stadium and the atmosphere, Love the Academics and the high energy around the program.
One of them said Michigan is definately his favorite. Felt very comfortable at Michigan.

Yeah I saw that but it was a premium article on another site and didn't want to be that guy.

I assume most had a pretty good time. The atmosphere was electric and on par with Happy Valley or the Horseshoe. They got to see the differences in class between the two teams at the end of the game.

It is the Michigan Fans that are making the comments on twitter, probably more like a troll/sparty trying to keep it buzzing with lame attempts to try and slander the Michigan Fan Base.

Gonna be hard to land any recruits in the immdiate future with people threatening a player over a mishap. It will take a few weeks for things to calm down.
October 19th, 2015 at 7:04 PM ^
Idiots threatening others on the internet will happen anywhere, over virtually anything. This is not a Michigan problem.
October 19th, 2015 at 7:14 PM ^
It's a Michigan problem when we're the team it happened to and we're the ones getting all the negative press over it. Keep in mind recruits these days haven't been alive long enough to see how awesome our fanbase is when our team as good...on account of not having a good team in that long
October 19th, 2015 at 8:28 PM ^
Except it isn't.
October 19th, 2015 at 9:13 PM ^
Are the trolls really turning this into a thing?
October 19th, 2015 at 7:21 PM ^
I would hope people would be mature enough to not stereotype an entire fanbase the size of ours because of the actions of 5-8 people.
October 19th, 2015 at 7:25 PM ^
While I agree about not stereotyping us hopefully, 5-8 is vastly VASTLY understating the number of people spewing hate. Have you been on twitter?
October 19th, 2015 at 7:33 PM ^
There could be 1000 people posting death threats and it would still represent .1 % of the Michigan fanbase. The best way is to ignore the losers. Never turn a 1 day story into a two day story.
October 19th, 2015 at 7:40 PM ^
I agree. I don't think 1000 people are posting death threats. I do think a much greater percentage is hating (to a lesser extent than threats) on him. Vocal minorities can ruin perceptions of fanbases if they're given a voice/stage. The media is giving all these losers way too much attention and our AD drew more attention to it
