MSU BBall G Eron Harris arrested for drunk driving
Per the LSJ. In line with typical punishments at UM and MSU alike, I'm sure he'll miss the games against Hillsdale and Concordia and be ready to go for Louisville and Florida.
Not surprised, move along.

2 or less weird guys - can miss a few games
> 2 weird guys - only exhibitions
We should really make a big deal of this because no one from Michigan would ever do this and we know better than their coaches.
Agreed. The worst our guys do is smoke pot, and they get year-long suspensions for it.
*A year in which McGary may have been in the NBA anyway for all we know.
If that were the case why would he/Michigan bother to appeal?
Options? If you strip the suspension factor, I don't think there was any easy decision for Mitch. He was picked in the low 20s, even coming off the injury. For a lot of guys, that's worth coming out for when you are already 22 at draft time. People act like Mitch's coming back was a slam dunk. It wasn't.
It wasn't a slam dunk he was coming back but it also wasn't a slam dunk that he was leaving based on where he was.
Izzo will find some 'weird guy' to take his place.

... And a slew if others. Wish he ( along with the rest of mgoblog ) would forget them all. Swear this blog is like a top hits radio channel when it comes to memes, rinse an repeat.

He already knows about losing to Michigan so it won't be that much of a change for him.
Check out this stellar defense-
Yet we all wanted him badly when he was tranferring. Kids make mistakes.
I didn't make any comments whatsoever about his incident in that post.
I said he knows how to lose to Michigan.
I wasn't saying you did, a lot of teams lost to that Michigan squad. I was at that game in Brooklyn.
But you said "Kids make mistakes."
So you're saying he made a mistake in the game and loss the game for WVU?
If you weren't referring to this incident, what mistake are you referring to?
P.S. - "Kids make mistakes" is the most bullshit excuse for driving drunk. Kids do make mistakes, he's not a kid and that's a HUGE mistake. I'm not saying he needs to be kicked off the team and burned alive, but let's save that innocent kid excuse for innocent kids.
How about, 'People make mistakes'?

He's 21, old enough to drink. He should be held responsible for his decisions the same as Minick. And yes, both deserve second chances.

Yeah, college is the time to make these mistakes and learn from them. Minick has more life experience and should know better. Granted both decisions are made while impaired so it is kind of a moot point.
At what point do people stop using the kid excuse? Harris would be tried as an adult, therefore he should be held responsible as an adult. A 21 year old man should know it's bad to drive drunk.
Do you honestly consider Eron Harris, a 21 year old college student, to be on equal playing ground as an associate athletic director who is a former marine?

You don't need a life's worth of experience to tell you that driving drunk is a bad decision. If you're old enough to drink, you should be old enough to handle the responsibilities that come with it, whether you're 21 or 50
Minick has more experience but he should be given a 2nd chance. Moeller was also arrested and the university cut ties with him. He has never been arrested since then and we look foolish for not suspending him but booting him after one transgression like that. Harbaugh was also arrested and USD kept him and he became a success story.
No longer having any moral high ground at all on this issue, we can't really criticize. Thank you Minick.

And Harbaugh. Michigan fans don't get to talk about dui's.
This isn't Figthing Irish, or STAEE, or OSU removing all the M's and then forgetting 2 of them.
IMO...
- He should be punished to the fullest extent of the law
- He should be punished by the University
- He should be punished by the head basketball coach
...and if he meets the expectations at all 3 levels and fulfills his obligations, he should be allowed to continue being a citizen, student and basketball player - and hopefully he's a better and smarter person after facing the consequences for his potentially deadly action.
That's it. That's all. Move on.
He made the decision to drive drunk, allow him to make the decision to face the consequences and penalties that are in front of him so that he can make up for his decision. If he chooses not to face these consequeces and penalities, well then shouldn't be allowed to resume his life as it was before his decision to drive drunk.
It's pretty cut and dry in my eyes. At least in this case, where, to my knowledge, there is no prior history.
I agree. Many believe that since we all do stupid things it should just be pushed aside as a side note in their file. This is a very dangerous stupid mistake and because many did it in the past doesn't lessen the implications is can and do have. I was irritated with Hoke for how he handled DUI's and I'll stay irritated with any coach who treats a dui with the same punishment that my coach in high school handled getting sent to detention.
