Submitted by Dawkins on

Tom Izzo said MSU will be without Denzel Valentine for 2-3 weeks. Had surgery this morning on a piece of cartilage.

...that he had a team of 23 year olds when other teams were allowing their players to go to the NBA (how did the NBA work out for their MVP, by the way?)

Are they going to make a :30 for :30 about 6(?) Final Fours with out a Championship, like Buffalo?  MSU is the only team I know of that counts Final Fours as Championships.  1-7?  That's impressive.

That's OK.  Izzo will just install some weird guys.

Normally this is where I wish the injured player well and a speedy recovery.  But given the rape allegations against Valentine ... not so much.

You have it mixed up. Payne and Appling were the ones accused of rape. Valentine is the player Izzo got caught trying to funnel money to through an intermediary, which resulted in Izzo getting suspended by the NCAA. They only had enough evidence to suspend him for one game, unfortuantely. A lot of people forget about this and the conference did its best to sweep it under the rug:

I was under the impression that Izzo ran the cleanest program in America? Additionally, I find nothing at all strange about his 2016 class after he said in a Final Four presser that he was going to have to start "doing some other things to compete with these guys."

the sport radio and sports page in the Detroit area have a bunch of Staee grads employed by them. Otherwise they would have spent years in mediocrite like the UM BBall team had to. We all must remember the practicegate that happened during the RR years. Just so people can say, see UM does "IT" too

I'm sorry for being hypersensitive to this. I work with young people who have dealt with a lot of trauma, and a lot of it deals with body image and the abuse that they've received. My bad for bringing that into an otherwise harmless attempt to bring about a laugh.

I never go with appearance jokes. It already sucks that we live in a culture where people self mutilate in many forms to look a certain way. There are always better options available than fat and ugly.

I understand where you're coming from and would generally agree, but we're talking about one of the least attractive individuals you'll see on your television screen.  It's like Tayshaun Price got together with a character from the Croods and had a baby, that was dropped...and then run over.

That said, I don't think it's right to compare him to a donkey (because that's not a nice way to treat a donkey).

I'm not a fan of teasing someone about something they have no control over, such as the face they were born with. And someone above mentioned Spartan fans teasing Hoke over his weight...why does that make something else okay? It's just as low class and juvenile.

People need to grow up and stop with the constant ridicule.

Eh.  That's a slippery slope argument.

Crazy people can't control it.  Short people can't control it.  Smelly people (sometimes) can't control it.  Dutch people can't control it.  Hairy people can't control it.

You're telling me I can't pick on anyone out there over something that is not their fault, and they can't control?  Next you're going to want me to stop yelling "Santa Claus isn't real!" when I pass children waiting at the bus stop.
