to the Pizza Pizza Bowl. Just heard on 97.1 the ticket. What a horrible name for a bowl lol.

Given how often cars are stolen in Detroit I always though that Lojack should sponsor the bowl. So is this Little Caesar's sponsoring it, or the Canadian pizza chain? As for bad bowl names, I miss the Poulan Weedeater Independence Bowl, as well as the Crucial.com Humanitarian Bowl. We had no idea what Crucial.com was, so it couldn't have been all that crucial.

I didn't think it was possible but this news has done it! - I now want us to make 8+ wins even more. That way there's no chance that we'll have to go to a bowl named "The Pizza Pizza Bowl".

No you guys need to look at it as the Pizza^2 Bowl (that should read as Pizza sqared Bowl) and that way it is more suited for us A^2 fans. lol

This is the worst idea I have ever heard. Well maybe not worse than that thread about the winner-take-all home-and-home thing. But this is definitely the second worst idea I have ever heard.

With all of the bad stuff we have had to deal with as M football fans over the past few years (i.e. Appy State, 3-9, WVU fans, coaching search debacle, Threetsheridammit, losing to OSU, etc.) , it seems like we are destined to play in the Pizza Pizza Bowl. Could you imagine an RR press conference where he says "I'm looking forward to preparing the guys for a battle at the Pizza Pizza Bowl".

The Motor City Bowl, due to its legitimate (and awesome) name, had a chance to rise in prestige among the ranks of these crap-name bowls That chance is gone with one fell swoop

What's wrong with you people? This is AWESOME. Bowl names have been a complete joke forever - at least now it's funny.

Ford Field is a very nice stadium and... uh, that's it. Look, the MCB had already lost Chrysler as a sponsor and now GM and Ford are cutting their sponsorships. They did what most bowl games do and found a local investor and that investor in turn demanded naming rights. That they picked a horribly stupid name is neither here nor there. What does bother me, though, is that there seemed to be a nice trend where corporate sponsors were coming up with real sounding names for their bowls. Instead of the Insight.Com Bowl it became the Insight Bowl. Instead of the Diamond Walnut Bowl, it became the Emerald Bowl.

Oh, I agree with your general premise that if you're going to give us the PapaJohns.com Bowl then you should at least have fun with it. But I'd prefer they make an effort to be reasonable with the names. Looking at list of bowl games, only a few have horrible corporate names: Capital One Champs Sports Chick-fil-A (the worst one, the Peach Bowl had so much brand history) EagleBank GMAC Meineke Car Care Maaco Outback Papajohns.com I don't have a problem with the likes of the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, because it's not meant to be referred to as such. Poinsettia Bowl is a perfectly good name.
