Submitted by RagingBean on

David Molk has been named a finalist for the Rimington Trophy given out to the nation's best Center.

I don't think Molk was a finalist last year, but he stands as good a shot as anyone at winning the thing from what I can gather. Nice to see OSU's Brewster excluded, too.

I admire Dave Molk.  He went from an underrecruited sort of short C with an odd undersized body...but with a solid mean-streak...to an excellent technician, quite mobile and quite strong Center who IMO will have a long NFL career if he stays healthy.

I zoned in on Molk during the Ohio game and he flat out knows how to use leverage very well and constantly stoned the Ohio interior D line.

Rimington Award uses 4 AA teams (AFCA, FWAA, Sporting News, and Walter Camp) to determine winner.  Peter Konz was named to AFCA AA team today (pretty unbelievable seeing he didn't play in last 3 games of the season).  Molk has some ground to make up.

Molk was a finalist last year too (see this).

Also, Michigan has had one previous winner of this trophy (which dates back only to 2000): David Baas was a corecipient in 2004. Michigan has had at least one other finalist: Mark Bihl in 2006.

Michigan offensive lineman + four-letter last name = winner

Molk is the  epitome of a MIchigan Man, Leadership, Commitment, Effort and Excellence.  He deserves it, he's been dominating fools all year

Can any other center say that they blocked for a rushing attack with 2 (!) 1,000 yd rushers this year?? No, no they cannot

When i purchase a game day program, these post season rewards make me drool!  Always a pleasure to look back and marvel at the legends.  Molk's number #50 should be a Legends number.  The kids all blue.  Hope to god he gets this.  What do you guys think are the chances of him picking up the hardward?!?
