Moderator Action Sticky 2014

Submitted by Seth on

New season means new sticky, since these get cumbrously long.

What this thread is for: It's an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.

NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted (see: "cumbrously long").

Before you look for your thread:
1. Was it offensive/political/off topic?
2. Did it link to Drew Sharp, something Mike Valenti said, or Ace Williams?
3. Is there another thread in the last few days on the board that addresses the same topic?

Hall of Stickies Past:
The first, the second, the third.

How long will it take Harbaugh

These speculation threads generally do not go well (and this one definitely was not going well based on the comments), so it might be wise to hold off on them for the time being, folks.

OT: Andrew Zow (Former Alabama QB) On His Career at Alabama

No Bleacher Report, please. If you can find another source, feel free to repost.

Also this...

I want a new radio commentator...

Yeah, we'll just pull this down now. If you're going to bitch, please at lease propose an alternative to enhance the discussion a bit.

Your personal Brady Hoke analogies / posbang

Yeah, it rather became a thread where people were simply piling on, which we don't need to do in the present situation. I think the board's discontent is well-understood at this point.

CC: QB Coach...

It might be easier to revisit the prospect of Tom Brady as a QB coach once he has in fact logged successful time as one, if indeed this ever happens. For now, it's 100% speculation.

Frank Clark arrested

Extensive coverage on the front page.

OT: News in the Weird - Jose Conseco

I am going to err on the side of caution and say this one is perhaps a bit too OT for "Non-OT" season. Amusing though, if a tad gross.

If you're about to post something and you're like, "wow I can't believe this hasn't been posted already" you've either (unlikely) hit the posting jackpot or you're (more likely) underestimating how quickly people get stuff up onto the board.

OT: Need help from the MGo computer experts....

This one has to come down under the "not a kiosk" rule, but hopefully the OP got some good direction all the same. Nothing wrong with the question, of course.

Cleaned up a LOT from the Clark FP post and thread. Victim-blaming (or even the insinuation of) is totally unacceptable, and there's a hell of a lot more that wasn't okay, either. If you were banned, email me, and don't expect much sympathy.

in that thread.

It's maddening that there is no appropriate place to confront him and his incredibly offensive attack on the humanities.

I also believe his statements, at their essence, were offensive, political, and off-topic - the triumverate of inappropriateness you refer to in your initial post in this thread.

Poster Bergs was right on the money, so I'll just quote him/her.

No. I'm okay with the fact that Hoke gave him a second chance. I'm okay with the fact that Hoke kicked him off when he broke the law a second time. I'm not okay with the fact that you made this thread.

This situation is truly terrible, but Hoke made the right/only choice and did it very quickly. Another thing to remember, domestic violence is not a football issue. Sadly this is something Schlissel will need to deal with or prepare to deal with in every facet of the university.

Just had a question, I got an email about a deleted comment and I have no idea where the comment came from as I haven't commented in a couple days. This is what the email said, any idea what happened here?

ItsSeaboltSon, the following comment was deleted from the site:
------
Downloaded the program and it
------

Downloaded the program and it added three pages that automatically open
whenever I open Chrome now.. yahoo, google and sweetpacks search. Looks
like I need to reinstall my browser and hope it dies. Download with
caution.

------
If this seems relatively innocuous it's probably because you replied to a
seriously offensive comment and your comment was collateral damage.

If the above is seriously dumb or offensive, this has caused the mods to cock
an eyebrow at you. Tread carefully lest you tempt the banhammer.

Hoke Didn't Speak to Clark?

Taking this down before the OP gets a complete (but warranted) verbal lashing from the board. I am going to wager a guess that, given the particulars of Clark's case, this is not exactly important nor would it be necessary. The larger point is that Hoke handled this very well.

But I think you were wrong to take this down. All of the critics were just pointing to what the cops said, as if police reports have never gotten anything wrong before. Hoke did say that he got both sides of the story, and how he got FC's side of the story is an open (and interesting) question.

It did work at Dunder Mifflin for a while. Will John or Jim want to build tube city? Who will run the Bullets, Bourbon, and Belles game when the AD runs into liquidity problems? So many questions...

Hey guys - not really META thread worthy but I'm pretty sure there's something goofy going on that's causing quite the double post outbreak on the site. Veteran posters who definitely know not to hit "save" more than once are having it happen to them and if you look at virtually any thread you'll see multiple double postings across the board. And most are followed by a "I dont know what just happened" explanation.

Over the past couple of weeks I've had three or four and I'll bet I didnt have any (outside of a post game site melt down) in the past three years. Yesterday I had one where i absolutely know I didnt hit save more than once and the double post appeared immediately. Just thought I give you guys a heads up if you hadnt noticed this already.

Hey Mods,

I'm not sure if you can see this, but is there an automatic date when I will no longer be "caved" in the future?

Not only is this absolutely none of our business, the insinuation that anyone's sexual orientation or gender identity is a bad thing won't be tolerated here.

Michigan Alumni and fans Harbaugh Campaign

There is a "no Gregg Henson" rule. Think of the "Assclown" tag that others have received in the past - Drew Sharp, Mike Valenti, etc...If someone wants to post a Henson-free link to the aforementioned campaign, well, those threads have gone either way.

Welcome to Mgblog

Yeah, not sure what posting random links to offshore sites has to do with anything. Not even sure what the point of this was in general as some of us are reading the blog on machines that work through firewalls and filters.

....so this one can come down for now.

Free tickets to tomorrows game (Maryland) *GONE*

Nothing wrong with the ticket threads, but it's easier to pull them as soon as there is confirmation that they are claimed to keep other things on the board.
