Michigan will be without "key defensive player" in Outback Bowl [Locked]

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Heard from several that as of now, U-M will be down a key defensive player for the Outback Bowl. Will wait for the program to announce who.

Maybe this is why Norfleet is suddenly playing CB?

Mod edit: The threshold for saying a player is kicked off the team for potentially illegal behavior is higher than unsubstantiated rumors. Speculation that names particular players and/or suggests those players have legal or other serious problems should be kept off the board unless a credible source comes forward to report. If you think you are a credible source, I encourage you to email Brian at the address at the top of the page. JGB.

If this was pretty much a done deal then, how did it not leak until now? On top of that, Floyd has not gotten in trouble (that I know of?) over any of the past five years that he's been here. And now he's done something so horrendous, so absolutely unforgivable, that he's being dismissed from the team?

Ok, let's say that it's Floyd who is done.

First of all, it is probably not for something that happened Friday night. If there was some "event" in question, the likely scenario is that the staff would be aware of it, and while going through the fact-finding and decision-making processes, they preemptively move Norfleet since they know how it will end. At the end of the week, the final ruling is decided. Nothing odd here at all.

We have no idea what happened. It could be something that would get anyone kicked off of any team. But if its a senior like Floyd, it could also be something that necessitates a one-game suspension... And that's all he has left. There's a wide range of causes here, we should probably wait to hear the real story.

My logic? All I did was take the 3 names that everyone has mentioned, and ask what in the world those 3 guys could have done to be knocked out of a Bowl Game. Usually if its a group of guys all at once, its usually a fight or a dumb crime.

I was referring to the fact that it was (supposedly) 3 guys all at once. It had nothing to do with race. My point was usually its one event involving multiple guys if multiple guys are booted at once. Hard to believe it'd be 3 separate incidents. My bad for suggesting that 3 college football players might have gotten into a fight. I'm sure anyone who has been to a college with a football team has seen a group of football players get into a fight. I wasn't saying I knew what it was, but it was the first guess that popped into my mind.

I say where there's smoke, there's fire. Unfortunate if true. What the heck could a 5th year senior to do get kicked off before the bowl game? Crazy. On another note, it *seems* like Hagerup has a knack for doing bone-headed stuff to get himself in trouble.

Webb has been saying for a few days that there is a reason for all the the new found room to the recruiting class, but he would let the staff report why.  Certainly Hawthorne or Floyd wouldn't impact the scholarship count next year, but J-Rob and Hagerup obviously would have.

I hope the attrition stops soon enough though. How long has the team been fighting depth issues now?

Le'ts say, for arguement's sake, that hypothetically three players from a football team were caught doing something bad.   Something against team rules......like say smoking pot for example....something like that.

Well if those three hypothetical players were caught but the coach had to investigate it further to ensure the story was accurate well then it might stay quiet for a day or two.  And if the coach did validate the story his decision on what to do with those three hypothetical players he would probably kick them off the team.

Allegedily.

I just went back thorugh Hoke's presser to look for clues.  Sure enough he seems to be avoiding a lot of issues, which means... absolutely nothing.  Damnit.  It's difficult to study for finals with all of this drama happening.
