I'm moving to the West this summer, so I may as well get used to the whole "Football at 9 a.m." thing and get exposed to it right away. I do wonder if there will be an effect on the OSU players. You'd think they'd come out earlier to get adjusted to the clock and ensure they're ready for the time change.
I actually prefer watching those early games from home though. Wake up, have a few cups of coffee and some food. Sit down and enjoy the game. No waiting around. Then, by the time the end of the game is rolling around you're just about ready for a beer.
Assuming Michigan wins, it's noon and you're free to watch a ton more CFB, or you can head outside and enjoy all the wonderful things the west coast offers. If Michigan loses you can close the blinds and hit the alcohol all day. Love it!

Thanks for the perspective, I'm looking forward to it. Now just going to have to find the right bar to open up for those games :).

Well that is an interesting question. Depends on where I get a job, Seattle, San Francisco, and Reno, NV are the main options now. Regardless my wife is originally from Portland and I am originally from Nevada, so we'll be getting closer to home which will be good, but I loved living in Michigan and am really sad to leave. Needless to say finding a good Michigan bar is going to be critical :).
I don't know much about Reno. I'd give the local Sheriffs Department a call and see what Lt. Dangle has to say. :)

YES! I think I'm going to make a roadtrip! I haven't been to a game in years, but I have that weekend off. My wife has never been (she's from Kansas).
I loathe noon games.
I will say it is nice to catch all of the afternoon / evening games though, so that is a benefit.
I love a couple noon starts. This lets me leave Chicago late afternoon Friday. I can enjoy breakfast, the drum line, a brat, get a little shopping done, get to the stadium, have an early supper at Zingerman's or some other place outside, and be back home by 9pm or so. I personally love having a mix of noon, 3:30pm, 5:30pm, and evening starts.
thought I wouldn't like the early start times but I now wouldn't want it any other way especially during the week with sporting events like Tigers baseball which usually starts around 4pm most games. Add in all the prime time games (like SB, MNF, NBA Finals, etc) being done by no later than 10pm and that makes things more enjoyable IMO.
One negative thing with the weekend start times of 9:00am is that it does take away from the game day build-up that I enjoy for bigger games.
Consider me, stoked. Just the thought right now of seeing a Jim Harbaugh Michigan Wolverines team take the field at Noon for the first time, against a decent oppenent (not great, but at least its not Eastern or something).. makes me almost wish once the 4th of July weekend is over and done with, bring on football season!
Mich traditionally is a bigger, stronger team. Noon games that time of year can be sunny & 85. I feel it somewhat negates the size advantage, because the bigger guys overheat faster.
Games that time of year should be at night, under the lights.
