Michigan recruit Stefon Diggs finished an undefeated season this weekend
Michigan recruit Stefon Diggs helped his school, Good Counsel, finish undefeated this weekend. Diggs scored on the first play of the game to start a blowout. Per the Washington Post, this Good Counsel team was one of the best ever in the greater DC area. More detail is in the link.
Here's hoping this kid goes blue.

Beause I'm pretty sure no decisions have been made yet...

I called him a recruit b/c he's being recruited. I would have called him a commit if he was committed.

Regular season, or did they win the state title too?

Good Counsel plays in the DC Catholic school league. It's a small conference of about 8 teams that has a 4-team playoff and does not participate in state playoffs. Recently, it's been a 2 team league with MD powerhouses Good Counsel and Dematha (Marcus Coker's high school) meeting in the championship almost every year.

Good Counsel won the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title
. I can't find any mention of a state playoff. My impression is that their season is over, but I don't know.November 21st, 2011 at 10:41 AM ^
As far as I know, they don't participate in State Playoffs. There used to be a City Championship game between the winner of the Catholic league and DC Public schools champion, but they discontinued that game.

Correct, Maryland private schools are on their own, separate from the public schools and with no state playoff.

If we could land this kid... O...M...G... would that be nice.
5 more kids to finish out the class now that Brown is out, right?
Here's hoping:
1) Diggs
2) Yuri Wright
3) Amara Darboh
4) Brionte Dunn
5) Best OL Available (e.g. Garnett or Diamond)
Substitute Payton for Diggs if it doesn't work out. Still, one of the best recruiting classes Michigan has ever seen.

we land Diggs, Wright, and Dunn at a minimum. I've followed Michigan recruiting since the later 70's and we had a few great classes in the day. But, I'd be hard pressed to find a better one if those guys were in it. This is almost certainly our largest class ever.

I don't know if it was better from top to bottom, but the 98 class was the best I've ever seen. We had the #1 and #2 wide receivers (Terrell and Walker), the #1 running back (Fargas) and the #3 qb(Henson). That was an amazing haul at the skill positions.

I went to the school they killed in the championship game. Here are some more highlights from the game, including the 70 yarder Diggs scored on the 1st play of the game

if you go to this site, there is a link with an video interview of Stefon after this game. Wow, what a great interview for a high school kid. Very, humble, mature, and gracious. I think I want him to come to Michigan even more now after watching this. Not just because he is a great football player, but he just seems like a great kid!!!

Diggs against bama will pay dividends.

Man Good Counsel is loaded. I'd be surprised if they didn't win out.

They already did win out.

Is he coming to the game this weekend? I feel like this has been covered but I forgot...

Supposedly his official will be scheduled in December, with a decision announcement at or near the Army All-American game.

Diggs is going to be at florida and many of the gator fans feel like he is theirs and could possibly end it this weekend. Here is to hoping they are wrong.

Check out the interview. He seems like a great young man -- a perfect fit for Michigan. Says he is narrowing his choices down on 11/29, which is his birthday.

It's very weird that Good Counsel is a powerhouse now because when I was attending high school (at a school in Good Counsel's conference), they weren't that good. DeMatha was and probably always will be, but Good Counsel was average in football and good in basketball (current NBA'er Roger Mason Jr. went there).
So no congratulations to Diggs since his team definitely beat the crap out of my alma mater (well, they won, and we were never any good, so I'm assuming they slaughtered us), but hope he comes to Michigan.
Like Blake Countess, all will be forgiven.

I think moving to Olney from Wheaton and having better facilities has helped them a lot.
