Michigan may be looking at JUCO DT transfer

Submitted by jbibiza on December 25th, 2019 at 12:45 PM

According to Maize & Brew, we are showing interest in Almosse Titii, a 6'3" 310 lb DT from Iowa Western CC. He is originally from Tampa, FL. UM is usually reluctant to go after JUCOs, and it is not easy for them to be admitted, so we will see if this develops further.

His film from this year looks pretty good for a freshman, and I am guessing that JUCO competition is similar to good HS ball. Could be the run-stuffer/pocket-pusher that we are looking for.

Magnus pointed out yesterday he's from France. So he's new to football. But video of him show him working hard on technique. Looks like he "Attacks each day with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.” Hudl says he benches 295. But the video shows he's up from that. Looks like he needs a lot of work. Maybe Ben Herbert and Shaun Nua could turn him into a beast.

Honestly, I don't think they're really after him. The article just says some Michigan people followed him on twitter.  But maybe after 2 years with Ben Herbert he might be ready to play.

You can see in the video he's benching 5 lbs over his weight. Still not good enough. But he's growing.

Speaking of someone from French connections, why doesn’t Michigan look at Jeffrey M’Ba, a DT who has been playing for about 2 years in the USA at St Thomas Moore (Charles Thomas former school). Michigan made a run for him last year but he reclassified to 2020 and Michigan seemed to show interest. He may be a major project but he does have the measurables to be a DT. And he has offers from Florida, FSU, Virginia and a couple other power 5 schools

Was he one of the guys that Magnus wrote about? I tried clicking the link in Magnus’ post to read about the transfers we are interested in, but every time I clicked it, I won a $1k Walmart gift card. Pretty amazing really.

Hey why the heck not? That said, this isn’t some plug and play. Homeboy is 310 and has about 30+ pounds of totally unnecessary weight. He is relatively weak and needs to work on fundamentals.

all that being said he may have the frame and raw athleticism to turn into something over time. If the coaches are that potential then why not have at it and give it a go?

I hope Kemp is at 3 Tech next year, unless he puts on 30 pounds to play Nose. He's a great player with a great attitude. But it doesn't look like Nose is his calling. I know he was there out of necessity this year.

Dominic Livingston (6"3", 340) is transferred out of LSU to a JUCO in Texas. He said he did it to be closer to his family (undisclosed family reason), although the JUCO he is at isn't much closer than LSU. Maybe it would be worth the shot in the dark to contact him.

You gave the additional information on distance not being much different and the transfer is to a juco and you still think he really transferred due to 'family reasons'?

I mean unless it's serious crap like he's gotta take care of the fam because he's the only one who can, and then he really isn't coming here.

Don you maybe right but it is also why we’re struggling to a major find on our d-line, amirite???  Our school is definitely one of the best but until we play school,“again not trying to beat the shampoo out of that animal again!”  We will continue to hope for success the absolute impossible way until,”we” pay!!!

Oklahoma has signed 3 of the top 10 JUCO players in the country.

Coincidentally,  the #1 overall player is also a DT from the same CC as Titii.

Titii is the #126 player on the 247 rankings.

Aside from the fact that he appears to be a pretty raw project and would need plenty of S&C work to be physically ready to play at Michigan, the main impediment to his coming here is the same as it is for all CC students: getting accepted by UM admissions, which has historically been very stringent about what class credits they will transfer from community colleges.

IOW, don’t hold your breath.
