Only following on the Live-Blog, but it sounds like MSU is being very scrappy but UM is missing some key opportunities.  Feels like one of those annoying 2-1 wins where you chew on your fingers all night.

MAC 2

Michigan 1

Also Mr. Announcer-Man it's not a huge win.  It's the big rival, but in terms of the season, it really doesn't matter whether you finish last in the CCHA and out of the tournament or third to last and out of the tournament.

And yes, shitting on others is how I make myself feel better.  I accept that.

I seriously flipped my shit when we lost, and I was yelling expletives at the TV every time they got close, scored, or I heard the go *****, go ***** chant.

Seriously, they didn't deserve that game, but won it anyway. Story of this team the last few years: we outwork a team, outshoot a team, outplay a team, but they get a few lucky penalties or lucky bounces (goalpost help anyone?) and somehow beat us.

I would have honestly preferred the breakaway over that penalty shot. I hate penalty shots, whether for or against us.

i wouldve preferred a powerplay to the penalty shot for sure. even if the numbers don't necessarily support this, i'd must rather have 2 minutes to take a lot of shots than leave it up to one shot (obviously we were not offered the choice)

can ALWAYS decide to take the penalty instead of the penalty shot.  Notre Dame's Jeff Jackson did it earlier in the year, up 1 goal late in the game against then No. 1 BC, ND drew a penalty shot, Jeff Jackson declined in favor of the penalty to kill the clock, instead of a hit or miss penalty shot.

Honestly, as much as I HATE questioning Red, taking the penalty gives us a 4-on-3 PP, which, for some reason seems to always click for every team ever, I really did think he was going to take the penalty instead and was kind of dissapointed when it became apparent we were taking the shot.  I can see his reasoning, down 1, late, trust the players and Lynch REALLY needs a break to get him scoring again and that could have been it, but at the same time, Michigan hasn't been great (by which I mean has been impossibly bad) in the few shoot-outs they've done and it's an ice-cold Lynch taking the shot.  If that's Carl or Louie, or MAYBE Wohlberg or Brown, I might reconsider and take the shot, but...

Ah well, what's done is done.  We're 1 point back of ND with 2 games on hand and 4 points ahead of Miami, still with 2 games on hand.  We should have won that game, but we didn't.  Let's get over this, move on and get back on top.  Huge series against Miami next weekend.

EDIT: Also, wowza we fell like a stone tied to an anchor tied to an elephant tied the sinking titanic tied to a safe, tied to a semi tied to a skyscraper in RPI and PWR.  10th in RPI, 9th in PWR.  That's ugly.

EDIT AGAIN:  Listening to the postgame quotes from Red, he thought about taking the penalty instead of the penalty shot, but thought it was more important to try and get Lynch going.  He was great in both tournament games against Miami last year, so maybe he'll roll that over and help us get back on a roll next weekend.
