  • Baxter said he has a “gut feeling” about who will be the team’s kicker Thursday, but opted to keep that feeling private.
  • Blake O'Neill and Kenny Allen, "will both punt for Michigan this year.”
  • Junior safety Dymonte Thomas, senior wide receiver Jehu Chesson, sophomore defensive back Jabrill Peppers and junior cornerback Jourdan Lewis have each been returning punts and kicks in practice, and all four will be available to field both kicks and punts

So Allen is the "pin it deep" punter I assume? And Peppers will be back to return in big games/situations, but Chesson or one of the others will be the regular. That's a solid plan if that's the plan.

I'd say Allen may get better hang time and would be used in longer put situations. O'Neill is known for precision kicking and would more likely be used to pin them back on shorter punts.

I think the prior information said some of the returners were being used for punts and others for kickoffs. That is more likely to be the break down. I would assume they would somewhat monitor how much Peppers is on the field if he does play offense extensively.

That'd be cool if Dymonte finally found a niche. This feels like an opinion probably not supported by stats, but I'm leary of using starters as returners.

I can't believe Jehu is a senior. ST is one area where I am really looking forward to some improvements. It would be awesome if Peppers returns one for TD in the first game, although unlikely. UTES is pretty good in ST. If we are even with them in ST, that is a big win.

This kind of makes me want to change my MGoUserName to TwoPunterSystem.

Great to see Dymonte's name mentioned somewhere.

Along with QB and OL, the kicking game is the biggest question mark I see on this team. I'm feeling better about WR if Harris can stay healthy and Perry is as advertised, which I think he is. If we can get even just 2 of those other three to be solid - QB, OL, kicking - I think we're going to have a very good year.
