Love not playing a game and moving up 6 spots. I wonder if this is due to teams ahead of us losing or more of a correction from last AP poll

Probably the AP voters starting to recognize that the Big Ten is the best conference in the country this year and giving teams in the conference the respect that comes with that.

Awesome that we passed Duke when they didn't lose and beat Notre Dame last week - and we didn't play! Usually the AP has their noses up Coach K's ass.

Agreed, the UCF blowout and PSU win are looking very solid now. Take care of Nebraska and we’ll move up next week...I’m counting on Whiskey to zap Staee!?

Yeah - UCF beating FSU (fairly handily) looks good for M.
I also think VA-Tech beating previously-ranked Clemson - after getting housed by PSU - makes our B1G opener look better also.

MSU being ranked ahead of us after losing to an unranked team by double digits is some Izzo-humping bullshit. And their "marquee" wins over Duke and Notre Dame are looking pretty weak now.

Was ND supposed to be good this year? I don't remember the last time they were good, maybe when they beat UM in the tournament a handful of years ago?

Yeah, I don't think they were thought of as being a good team coming into the season, but since they're a "name brand" and play in a power conference it's assumed they're decent-to-good. Their 2-4 record and predicted sub-.500 record says otherwise.

I think one thing is clear this early into the college basketball season: don't take any game for granted as a win is a win, especially in the B1G.

Rutgers (+8) & Michigan big movers here.
Have to think a win on Xmas day moves us up another 3 or 4 regardless what happens anywhere else.

Btw, Ken Pom's and Bart Torvik's metrics don't think as highly of Sparty as the human polls.
Ex: On BT, MSU is currently 29th. Meanwhile, Michigan is 14th.

1) Just grind out a top third finish in the league

This drives me crazy we can't get into the top 25 during weeks where we had quality wins but we are flying up the polls by not playing games.
