Michigan in Armani Reeves' top 5
Armani Reeves has announced 3/5 schools to be in his top 5 and Michigan is one of them. I know Magnus (I think) has said that he really likes Reeves as a cornerback target in this class. If T-Rich goes blue and Armani wants to come do we take them both?
Wayne Morgan. Again, the logic will be whomever commits first. You saw that with RJS, then Bolden, and Ross did not wait long knowing he had to make the call. We shall see how it plays out !
It is pretty awesome that top rated kids are committing because they don't want spots to be gone. This is kind of how Texas does their recruiting.
It will be interesting to see who our first CB commit will be. Anyone have any idea how many CB we take this cycle?
Not a ton of top flight guys but enough that we can be selective. I would say 2 unless things fall our way and we snag 3 very highly rated guys.
It seems like it is a thin year at CB instate and even nationally. T. Richardson and Payne are the only Names that I hear consistently.
If he's only named 3 of his top 5 schools, and we're one of them, doesn't that essentially mean we're in his top 3?
That is very logicial, I guess that's what I get when I take things off of scout
This injection of logic didn't affect the accuracy of your post at least. Seeing as how if we are in the top 3 we are also in the top 5.
Good news.. We're also in RJS's top five!
No, this is a good post. I wasn't trying to correct you, just drawing further from your info.
Gotcha, this was my first ever forum post so I guess I was just assuming I screwed something up.
It was quite a ground-breaking process for me, I feel like a different man now
It was a good post and thank you for the news. I was just adding a little levity to the comment that was made. Your 1st post is a lot better than some of the other attempts. Keep up the good work.
If he actually knows what all 5 are and he just announced 3 of them in no particular order.
Granted, there wouldn't be very much of a reason to do that. I'm just pointing out that it doesn't 100% follow.
Yeah, it's not for sure a top 3. But it makes sense that if he hasn't named the other two of his top five, he hasn't decided who they are yet. And if that's the case, it's likely that those two are behind the three that are already named. That's not certain, it just the likely case.
Either way, those top 5 could all change in a matter of weeks anyway, so we could be top 1 and it wouldn't mean much until he makes a decision.
Yeah, I suppose, unless he's going to pick his top 5 based on up to date events and then clear his head and give everyone an equal shot.
Reeves will be a top 15 cb in the nation, you make room for a player of his caliber no matter what richardson or morgan does. Our offense is loaded but defensively we need body's, especially at corner.
Do we need bodies? We'll have 8 scholarship CBs this fall, only one of them will be a senior, and only one more will be a junior. If we only take one CB in this class, we'll still be at 8 scholarship CBs when he gets to campus. I think that's sufficient.
With our recent DB history, I feel like the coaching staff should take 4 corners and 4 safeties a class.
If there weren't limits on this stuff, I would totally agree with you, but at this point an addition CB in this class means fewer offensive or defensive linemen, and we're much deeper at CB than either of those spots right now. Personally, I don't think we should take more than 1 CB in this class.
I don't think it is so much that we need "bodies" any more as much as it is we need top end talent at DB. We have enough bodies right now, just not the blue-chippers.
Agreed, considering that we'll likely only have two CBs with experience after the 2011 season, and one of them is JT Floyd. I don't think the coaches are interested in offering many guys who will primarily play special teams.
Tough to say. We only have offers out to 8 uncommitted CBs right now, and I don't think we'll have room to take more than two in this class. Unless there is more attrition, it might be a situation where we take two commits, and then move onto other needs.
Depends on the position(s) the coaching staff is recruiting him for. If Richardson is already in the fold, then perhaps Reeves can be the S in this class?
I say take him. Judging from M's recent DB transfer rate, room is there to be had.
I was hoping for a link, I'm guessing that the information is behind a paywall.
It is indeed behind a paywall, it seems like our main competitor is Penn State though
What are the feelings about some of the CB's and who we would like to take, given the choice? I feel like Richardson is #1 (I think?), but between Reeves, Morgan, and Yuri (or others that we have a chance with) do any stand out to y'all? (I just started an internship in Atlanta so I figure I have to start saying "y'all" more often)
I do indeed like Reeves. I would put him higher than Wayne Morgan on my wish list. However, ever since Camren Williams committed to PSU, I've had a feeling that Reeves will probably follow suit.
CLARIFICATION: I do have some questions about Reeves, though, based on his film. There are some behaviors that concern me. I like him as an athlete. It's just some body language/leadership stuff that concerns me a bit.
Reeves is pretty good but if I could have my pick of the bunch it would be Foster and Wilson. Also would take Richardson provided there was still a spot for him and I wasn't holding it for a lineman on either side of the ball.
This is assuming he is actually waiting until the AA game which is not seeming likely. So it would be nice to get all 3.
As long as Reeves can play Safety then we are good with taking him as well as TR. I think it does come down to who wants to commit first between the 3 as Morgan is versitile enough to play both the DB positions.
I am not able to start my own thread on here and dont know if this warrants one anyways. But I was just informed that Ondre Pipkins was offered by Alabama. Just checked Scouts and they have an article under paywall reporting its true. It seems as though scouts believes he is very interested calling it one of his dream schools.
