Will be the youngest hitting coach in MLB by a wide margin.

The point is, when you create a thread your  audience isn’t supposed to have to go to the link to get the gist of the topic. A quick little summary, “former Michigan baseball player and recent coaching staff member” to go along with the link and it’s perfect.

less important if it’s a major name in Michigan athletics (Don Brown to UMass for example didn’t need any background) but I’d wager 99% if Michigan sports fans have no clue who this guy was or that he was even coaching at Michigan.

Jimmy Hardballs,

if I’ve ever heard of this guy I forgot, and I actually played Big Ten baseball in the last 15 years. I have kept up reasonably well with Michigan baseball, including recently spending some bullpen time with one of M’s most recent commits in the ‘23 class out of California. Some of my former coaches have longstanding connections to Bakich so I try to keep up for more than just nostalgia.

I wouldn’t assume that any but the more dedicated Michigan baseball fans would recognize the relevance from your thread title/post.

I just don’t think the vast majority of fans follow baseball closely enough to remember random players from years past or assistant coaches. I watch the team fairly often (whenever I see they’re on BTN, B1G tournament and NCAA tournament) and I don’t remember any of the non-star players. I’ve probably forgotten quite a few of those even, especially the further back I go. I feel like that’s pretty representative of the majority of Michigan fans, especially once you account for the ones who don’t follow college baseball at all.

Most people follow the major sports (football, basketball) and follow the rest of the sports in passing with the exception of a few who have an attachment to a particular sport (hockey has some diehards, myself included, for example). But I wouldn’t expect the casual fan to know random past players from non-revenue sports.

Brutal negs… yea no link, but I thought we were a baseball school!!!!  Come on people…

I greatly appreciate the info.  Brdar was a solid player, First Team All B1G and part of the CWS coaching staff.  Between him and Fetter climbing the ranks at such young ages, clearly Bakich can’t develop/mentor players or coaches (sometimes both) and is a terrible coach so we must #FireBakich
