MGoObituary: Tina Turner dead at 83
Rest in peace, Tina.
who runs bartertown?
RIP Tina. Phenomenal actress and voice. One of my moms favorites
Legend! RIP Tina
Damn, RIP Anna Mae.
80s icon. RIP
Correction: 60s and 70s icon too. Have you ever listened to (better yet, watched?) her version of "Proud Mary"?
In so many ways an all-time great, a pioneer, and a winner in life.
That's where my mind immediately.
Loved her in Mad Max. Raggedy Man.
She was a better singer than an actress, but was a pretty good actor. But that voice...
RIP, Tina...
Better be good to me. RIP Tina
We DO need another hero. Tina rocked!
Man, what a great voice she had. I'm young enough that my first Tina Tuner song was the theme to Goldeneye (although I'd bet I must have heard Simply the Best on the radio before that and hadn't put it together), so I'll always have a soft spot for her from that.
Tremendous and unique voice. We'll miss your gifts. RIP.
A survivor of chronic domestic violence who rose above it in her brilliance.
TinaStrong. RIP.
Keep on rolling up, Tina.
A true pioneer and a great performer. Overcame a lot of mistreatment in her life to be one of the most iconic singers in history.
She overcame that POS Ike Turner and left him to rot in the dust of her success. Proud Mary!
RIP Tina.
Her version of Proud Mary is the greatest cover in recorded music and I will hear no detractors on this point.
Great, of course, but the bifurcated version is the ultimate.
Tina Turner rocked. From Mad Max to Proud Mary everybody loved Tina Turner. Ike Turner seemed like a jerk though.
And here I was thinking it was Fishburne who married her.
What can you say? She was simply the best.
Her story is an amazing one. From being under the controlling and abusive ex Ike back in the 60's to her rise to solo superstardom in the 70's and 80's. An absolute amazingly talented (and from all reports nice) lady.
We lost a great one today. RIP Tina.
The lady was a total badass. I like to think that somewhere, there's a celestial choir just got a lot hotter.
Damn. RIP
This is why I stayed up late as a teenager.
The seated crowd is spectacular.
At one time, she held the record for the largest paying audience (180,000 in 1988) for a solo performer.
In the UK, Turner was the first artist to have a top 40 hit in seven (yep, seven) consecutive decades.
She sold over 100 million records worldwide, including certified RIAA album sales of 10 million.

The woman had it *all*. Beautiful inside and out, could hold an audience with her incredible talent for hours. When she smiled, you smiled back, when she sang, you were in awe, when she moved you were spell-bound.
Oh honey, we will miss you.
So true.
We lost one of the best of all time.
RIP Ms Turner 🙏
Tina was one of most high energy singers from the 1960s through the 1980s on stage or video. She will be missed.
When Frank Zappa booked Ike Turner's (what a dirtbag) Apostolic Studio to record Over-Nite Sensation and Apostrophe. Frank asked Ike if he could book some backup singers.
Ike sends Tina and the Ikettes!
The parts are very complicated (Montana)

and risqué (i.e. Dinah-Moe-Hum).
Of course they nailed the parts and clearly had a great sense of humor.
Consummate professional and unbelievable performer.

Yep, gonna be a dental floss tycoon. 👍
Well, then, better move to Montana soon.
She had the same birthday as I do.
Her voice (and legs) were beyond awesome. RIP
Saw her and Ike perform my Senior year at UM. Great show.

HBO recently aired a special about her life - it was tremendous - she went through a great deal and seemed to always take the high road whenever an option presented itself.
The word "icon" can be overused - she definitely earned it. One of a kind.
RIP - prayers for her and her family.
Saw her at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in.... boy 1985?.... lady had some pipes...
RIP.
That is a very dynamic duo...
I never knew Ann Margret could sing like that.
Wow what a duet. And wow.
Ann Margaret, one of the most versatile and talented women’s entertainment history. Easy on the eyes.too…
Had a huge crush on AM when I was a kid. That crush lasted until ... well, what time is it?
Let's not forget the Acid Queen. She was mighty powerful.
Was just about to write a comment featuring the Acid Queen...I was about 10 years old (1973) when I first heard the original soundtrack to Tommy (not the Who version, which I also love), and it blew my pre-adolescent mind. RIP Tina.
When Tommy came out, I was in 5th grade and snuck into a theater to see it with a friend. Nightmares for days, especially about the Acid Queen and Cousin Kevin.
Hmmm. I would've been more worried about Uncle Ernie.
Wow. As big a fan I am of The Who, I forgot about her playing the part of the Acid Queen in the movie version of Tommy . Tina Turner's performance was one of the few real highlights in a very strange movie.
Pure American legend. All heart and soul.
What’s Love Got To Do With It is one of my favorite tracks of all time.
