MGoBlog - Championship Book?

Is this happening?

Gauging interest: RT this if you'd be interested in an unreasonably nice and expensive version of the championship book we're putting together.

It came up in some of the threads last week, but it sounds like yes.  I'm planning on buying 2 or 3, 1 for myself and a couple gifts.

I'm no publisher but my guess would be there's a bit of lag, time-wise, between confirming interest in the purchase of said book and the actual publication of said book.

But hey, that's just me.  Perhaps "insta-book" is now a thing I missed.

Maybe Brian and Seth are looking for a publisher who can supply what they're looking for before they even start the kickstarter, so that they get an idea of how much they'd need to raise, what the unit price would be, etc.

A hardcover-type book would be new territory for this site right?  I'm assuming they have to kind of develop the process.

Take my money!  I would be in for at least 2.  I believe it was mentioned it would be a 2021-2023 "Year Book" which is double thumbs up!

I also love idea for the pre-sale incentive of a navy shirt with yellow silhouette of Roman Wilson's game/season saving Rose Bowl grab (replacing the jumpman logo on the left breast of the shirt), then all the helmet stickers the players EARNED from 2021-2023 on the front.

If I had to guess, Brian & Co have gauged the interest and may be starting to get quotes on what a small production run of books might cost. Stuff takes time to get together. I'd bet another dollar that there may be a pre-order to confirm they actually have buyers for what I'm guessing would be $100+ book

I have a twitter acct but for some reason have chosen to do zero engagement except for the periodic Like (I mostly use it for more efficient reading of tweeted news).

So if this counts as a repository for alternative RTs, please count me in.

I see so many advertised from creep and det news so I’m really hoping and waiting for the mgoblog version instead. Needs to be large hard cover coffee table book style

Yes it's happening. We're going all-out for a gorgeous hardcover thing that covers the two years leading up to the 2023 season and gives every contributor a profile at the back.

Notice how my content has slowed down? I spent most of yesterday putting together the cover and a tentative layout. We've got a size/design/cover design pretty much decided upon but I need to get a printer estimate on our specs.

We're reaching out to authors this week.

ETA for the finished version is this summer. I know the Free Press can stick photos and words into a book and send it to the publisher before they even know how the season ends with wide distribution because legacy media have a late Ancien Regime level of imperviousness from the market. But those of us who covered the team during the year feel compelled for some reason to actually put some kind of effort into a good product. If you can be patient I guarantee you'll want to open this thing in 20, 30 years just as much when you got it.

Just be prepared for a high price point, because we're not sparing expenses in the making of it.
