META: New, More Eye-Friendly Background!
So, looks like we finally have a grey background to the website to contrast with the white text body in the foreground.
What do you guys think? Better? Good? Bad? At least the one good thing about 3.0 is that it can be more easily refined and improved.
Here's hoping that other things get better, such as editing posts and voting consistency!
I'm confused, I thought the whole purpose behind Mgoblog 3.0 was to drive traffic AWAY from the site...
I like it. Never really had an issue with the all white myself, but I'm hoping this will help with knowing who is replying to whom.

By the way, is anyone else having issues with their points updating? I thought in the last update Seth posted, they were working on fixing it/ fixed it. But mine hasn't updated since about a day after it started working again last time.
Yeah it is definitely easier to see who is replying to whom. The gray background separating individual comment threads is a great idea.
I'm not having problems with my points updating, however I am having a problem trying to find the upvote button. lol
Is this a bug or maybe I'm just blind?
I haven't had the option to up or down vote since the update. I assumed others had the same issue.
Word in another thread was that up/down votes are only appearing at 1000 points...

I'm finally getting points for comments but nothing for upvotes (or downvotes).
My point count hasn't changed since 3.0 went into effect, in spite of having made several comments and gotten upvoted (and presumably, downvoted.) As I'm technologically inept, I don't know if it's my fault, the site's fault, or if I'm stuck in a time loop.
As a critic of the new site, I have to be fair: Yes, the gray background does look better than the previous white-on-white version.
I had a couple of days where points updated, then it stopped. Good thing I don't come here for the points. I figure it will get sorted out at some point.
We are still trying to figure out what the hell is going on because it was working and we were watching it work just yesterday.

I never received my 200 points for being mvp in reddit Risk either. Is that part of the site issue too?

Were you watching when it quit working? Maybe it's some weird time of day permission setting or maybe there's some threshold bug that only allows so many votes before crashing?
Because I know for certain by 8:00pm eastern the day you updated the 3.0 sticky (7/24) up/down voting and point total updating had stopped working in any thread I commented or voted in.
They gray background is nice. If nothing else, it gives the site a more lived-in feel that makes you feel comfortable when posting, almost as if you're being welcomed to make a little mess on the carpet. White makes one feel like they need to visit the clean room just to post.
I disagree. It's not good to sleep on your BM nor to make it on your carpet.
The gray background really ties this chat room together. Just make sure that nobody pees on it.

Why can't I use my profile in the top right to see my mgoboard posts? I have to find a post by me and click my name's hyperlink. That's bullshit.
Seconded simply for emphasis. If they can link our profile to our username in a post, then it would seem they can link our profile to the username that sits at the top of the screen all day.
Without it, it's much more difficult to return to a conversation or check a post for replies.
Sometimes I will just post something random so I will have a link to my previous posts, rather than searching old threads to find a post I did.
Kind of like now.

Looks better. I noticed the other day that my upvotes were adding to point totals when I refreshed, but then as fast as it worked, it stopped again. Sloth!
/ tried to post a picture of a sloth, but it was too large, couldn't figure out how to resize (2.0 was a snap), so gave up.

Thanks for changing the background color, it really helps break it up and makes it more readable.
