Meta: Don't like the banner? Try making one yourself and submit it for consideration.

Personally, I don't care what the banner looks like. I come here for the interesting political discussions, other OT discussions and maybe for some football stuff in the fall.  And of course...to defend simian rights from human despotic abuse.

So...you don't like the banner?  Let's see your artistic aptitude at work and submit your suggested new banner design.

To give you a start, I used a snipping tool to capture and save the current banner as a png file and opened it in mspaint.  The image properties show 1072 x 263 pixels.

Maybe if you hit it out of the park with your new and improved design, our overlords here will like it and use it?

Remember, if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

I'm no artistic savant and have no qualms/quarrels/beefs with the current banner and don't really give a flying fuck whether it gets changed or not because I come here for the great #content and to laugh at all the crybaby shitposting that gets done over the most innane BS...that being said:

If someone far far FAR more artistic than myself wanted to make an updated one, I think a "Celebration Troll" MGoBanner would be hilarious.

- Devin Bush scuffing up the Spartans field

- Chase/et al "swinging the McSorely bat" after a defensive play against PSU

- DPJ's "Paul Bunyan Pose" after he caught the TD against MSU

- Shea "shushing"

- Shirtless Harbaugh

- Murderwolf.

Would be a thing of beauty

These are all pretty good/savagery-type ideas.

Now I may be dating myself here but does anyone remember the banner submission contest like 10 years ago? It was a bracket style matrix and every week we voted on user-submitted ideas. It was a lot of fun and I would much rather see a reoccurring segment of that than Draftageddon.

Who else with me?

I find it funny the banner image being loaded in is actually a 13mb file with the dimensions of 8140x1986... and it has the word condensed in it... a little overkill unless I'm missing something obvious.

Guessing they are just lazy with the naming as https://mgoblog.com/themes/mgoblog/images/1000pixcondensed.png is a thing. That file is ACTUALLY condensed... clocking in at 351kb for a 1070x260 picture.

Wow nice catch. Not only is it 13 MB, it also loads on the mobile version of the site even though it's not visible. This is really crappy, it is wasting a lot of peoples mobile data. Nobody has a monitor with a high enough resolution to justify a banner that is 8140x1986.

Yes the browser will cache the image so you won't need to download it every single time but still, this is pretty bad. Whoever uploaded the banner should know better.

Instead of a banner we should use that space for more advertisements! If not, make sure to include women’s sports in it...

That banner is a curse.

It was a Harbaugh banner before 2017

It was Football-MBB-Hockey before this past season where all 3 failed to win a championship

It was Football during 2018 and then it ended with a thud

It was changed to MBB after the 17-0 start and we didn’t win a championship.

I can keep going back, too.

The banner isn't a major concern for me either - it would be nice to have it change more often as I do like to mix it up a little and I do like the hidden gems usually buried within - I am just here for the deep political and religious discussions........

My kindergarten teacher told me I had zero artistic ability and I think she was right.   I’m more of an idea man.

I see Shea and the receivers dressed as astronauts carrying Michigan helmets as they approach speed in space.
