Summarizing:

ZS's issues were longstanding, persistent, and worse than previously reported.

Investigation excuses Meyer's lying by saying he can't remember things, even things he previously knew in detail, because of his meds.

Meyer discussed deleting his text older than 1 year. Later he turned in a phone with all texts older than 1 year deleted.

The Powell PD revised the ZS DV report to state he was not arrested. They did this *after* McMurphy's report. This was a major talking point used by Buckeye fans to discredit McMurphy, and also cited by the report as a reason why ZS was not fired. McMurphy posts original report he originally obtained.

Basically, OSU is saying that Meyer takes medication that negatively impacts his memory even for subjects on which he has spent significant time.

Wtf? This has to be from the Onion... That sounds completely insane, how would he even be allowed to drive let alone coach a major college football team?

Wouldn’t they have been better to say that Urban lies in a misguided attempt to help his friend?  At least that is a plausible explanation that most guys can comprehend even if you would never condone it yourself.

Let's be real here, after that happened advertisers wouldn't have touched that show with a 30ft. concrete stick.  It ALWAYS comes down to the money.  In this case, providing a fig leaf to keep Columbus from burning down was necessary and kept the money flowing in, firing him when the fanbase remains...unconvinced to say the least was never going to happen, no matter the negative PR from this.

Just take solace in knowing something like this does not happen in a vacuum and there HAS to be more just waiting to come to light.

Unfortunately, I don't think anything more will come out.  My understanding, relating to ZS and the office "environment", is that there is a major cultural issue there.  To think he was the only one, just isn't the case.  If they looked more into the office environment, I think they would be much more embarrassed.  Pretty sure they are in lockdown (red lock?), and probably enough people culpable that they won't implicate themselves by speaking out.  Only leak would possibly come from a staffer/ex-staffer directly involved, but not sure if that's going to happen after seeing the threats to those that speak out on this issue.

One of the more common offenders in memory-altering drugs are benzodiapines and z-hypnotics/sleeping pills, which Urban admitted to abusing both in the past.

https://thelab.bleacherreport.com/i-m-not-the-lone-wolf/

However, I don’t know what they are claiming he has forgotten. If Urban is claiming to have forgotten recent events than he is also admitting he is still abusing those drugs, or he’s saying that he has a foggy memory of the times when he was on those drugs.

I've seen a lot of pretextual arguments, but this has to be about the most brazen I've ever seen.  I can't wait to see the next fluff piece on OSU after this blows over about Meyer's football mind and how he can remember every play ever for the last umpteen years.

On a related note, I'm also blown away by McMurphy's revelation that Meyer and Gene Smith knew and "monitored" the 2015 incident and didn't report it to compliance.  This is the school that self-reports hundreds of secondary violations a year, and they are saying that it didn't occur to them to report to compliance?

There is ultimately no recourse here--the ultimate authority on Urban's job status has spoken.  OSU as an athletic department and institution of higher learning will deserve everything they get in terms of blowback and then some.

Exactly he should have just admitted he screwed up and was covering up an abuser because of some weird personal loyalty to the guy. I would be more okay with him keeping his job if he just admitted Zach was a dirt bag, he knew, and these are the things he's going to do going forward to correct that.

Someone on ESPNU made the point that basically Urban will say whatever he needs to to get to the next thing and avoid punishment. It's how he left Florida for "health and family".

The medication thing is such BS too. Every medication has side effects.

There are too many holes. Not sure though if something damning will come out. You need someone to come forward and refute the lie. To do the decent thing. But it will be hard to expect that from a buckeye.

Actually it does. The ramifications should be that many parents with any common sense won't let this pile of shit into their homes to recruit their sons. He's just another person in this world who has good success in their profession but has only achieved that success by corrupt and downright pathetic means. Go Blue!!

Ehh...but does OSU/Meyer really get kids to the league or does OSU just get kids who are almost certainly going to end up in the league anyway because they are already really good at playing football?

UM has done a better job of getting 3* types into the league (especially on the defensive line) recently than OSU and the few elite players UM has gotten (Peppers, Gary) have had no trouble getting into the league, either.

Most parents still aren’t going to care. Not enough anyway. Meyer will be seen as a means to an end.

A slimeball who still wins big that their son has to deal with for 3-4 years while winning championships and making it to the NFL.

This will change almost nothing on the recruiting trail. Sure, maybe some parents will now tell their sons they will not be going to OSU, but not enough to make any noticeable difference.

Actually, I think what happened at Florida is happening at OSU.  Over time even more of the thug-like recruits and their parents will go to OSU.  They will get in trouble and Meyers will cover it up to keep them eligible.  Eventually he will get caught in more lies which will lead to more drug abuse and then "heart problems".  I stand by my early conclusion - Urban Meyer has a personality disorder and is a ticking time-bomb.  OSU had its chance to eradicate him before it gets worse.  The win at all cost culture is a risky business.  I expected more from the Stanford educated President Drake, but he ultimately succumbed to the pitchforks of Buckeye Nation.

It will be fascinating to see how his current football team responds to this situation.  They probably all new about Zach Smith and Urban's lies to cover it up.  Does this impact their effort and focus this season?  We will see.

That report isn't even close to comprehensive.  I could have written that.  Furthermore, it is not the place for the investigative committee to inject personal opinions in a factual report.

Eactly. Without the opinion this reads as incomplete and likely damning.

The reason for the opinion is because without a doubt to summarize specific evidence would lead us to a different conclusion. If they are really going to give opinion, give us the credibility determinations you would need to make, along with parties unwilling to cooperate that would be required to make this leap of faith. They didn't because it's crazy talk.
