I'm certainly not hoping that he becomes a murderer or rapist or ski-mask-wearing thug, but there are probably 13,000-14,000 kids playing FBS football. Minus about 115 who wear wings on their helmets, I don't care much about any of them having more luck than any other.

Lots of moms have concerns about where their son attends college, whether he gets into trouble or not, etc.

I'm not sure it is fair to call him a head case. Who knows why McDowell wants to go to State but he hasn't flipped his commitment ten times or been unloading in the media. I would obviously prefer he play for Michigan and it is disappointing he won't be.
And besides, even if he was a certifiable head case, he's a 17-year old kid who has been through a very public dispute with his parents that also probably unleashed all that is horrible with internet trolling. Give the kid a break.

Finally it's over and I can now get back to my life. /s

Seriously though, I don't really care if he has a sucessful career or not as long as he is a non-factor against UM.

Sad to think how we whiffed on both Hand and McDowell.... still feels like we're weak on the DL because of it... I know its irrational, however, it is what it is.

... and then I remembered that "last night" was still April Fool's day.  I will continue to follow this saga with rapt attention until I receive a clear sign that McDowell just isn't interested in us.

Awesome. Hope he goes 0-4 against UM.

That's not just him in particular, but the whole MSU squad.

And all the nonsense... But if you read the quotes from MM's father, it sure makes one wonder where a lot of the Michigan Media (if you will) were going with this thing. Bottom line, he'd been green for months, and there didn't seem to be much ambiguity or wavering. And the even bottomer line, nice to move on.

He didn't have a television announcement with the hats in front of him and then his mother going postal about his selection of the "wrong" school.  that scene was bizarre.

I wish him luck, but it's pretty clear he's going to strip mall city for the wrong reasons. That's why his mother objected.

I knew he wasn't coming here when it was 3rd and a billion in the second half of this year's game against Sparty.

Sparty slappies are reporting he signed a B1G tender on national signing day, basically meaning any other B1G school was off the board because he'd have to sit out a year then.

What the heck?  Why the heck were we still wasting our time on him?  And what the heck was Sam Webb talking about?  If he did sign the tender with Sparty, there was zero chance he was going to another B1G school.  That would explain why FSU was in it late.  Seems like some supposed recruiting experts completely dropped the ball on this.

Doesn't suck too much because we knew he wanted to go to MSu since December.  But on the other hand it sucks really hard since he was a lock to Michigan for the better part of 2 years before that.  Even when we lost hand, I was somewhat OK with it knowing that Malik was still coming here.  Really a thin class on the D line.  We basically have taken Taco Charlton as our only pure DE commit in 2 classes.

Yeah. He really likes publicity. That's why he responded to every interview request, got on ESPN constantly, etc. He's a total diva. I swear, you put a microphone in front of the guy and he won't shut up! Didn't you see him on TV and on the radio and giving interviews to Rivals and Scout and 247, like, every day for the past two months. Yep. Definitely did it for the publicity.

If he were a real Michigan man, he would just make a nice, quiet rap on a national television sports station about his future destination and put on a replica helmet for everyone to see. Instead, the attention whore got on Twitter and was all like "I'm glad to say I finally signed with MSU!" The nerve of that guy.
