MBB v Illinois BTT Open Thread

Submitted by alum96 on

I only started one other MBB game thread this year and it was for Illinois and that one turned out well.  Hopefully twice is still a charm.

Especially as of late.

This team is going to go as far as GR3 takes it. If he plays soft and with no energy, we won't make it off the first weekend. If he plays like this, we may return to the Final Four.

He's the ultimate X-factor, he's the only player on the team that you don't know what you're going to get.

This team needs to get it together defensively , illinois is a poor shooting team there is no reason they should be able to get into the lane.  If they are hitting jump shots fine but our gaurds can not let them turn the corner.

...in the game of basketball about offensive players jumping into defensive players.  It's in the rule book, it's called principal of verticality, and it doesn't only apply to offensive players.

We're not going to blow them out...

#1 - they're playing for their lives.
#2 - we embarrassed them last time.
#3 - Beilein isn't playing his usual rotation.

We just have to execute and win this game by 7-10 points and take the win.

Don't think for a second this is going to be a blowout again...Beilein is going to get all the rest he can get for the starters.

I don't think anyone is expecting a blowout, but there have been some real lapses in defense with some big mistakes on both ends.  We could be up by more.  We don't have to blow them out, but this game doesn't need to be close, either.

We're on pace to score 76 points and we've executed very well. We're not a great defensive team and we've never been so nothing that has happened has been surprising. It's not like we're making them look like an offensive juggernaut. They're making some tough shots, give some credit. That said, it's not like they hung 40+ on us that half.
