4 sentences is OK by me as far as paragraphs go.

Seriously. Pre-internet, how many paragraphs had fewer than 4 sentences?

All of Mitch Albom's paragraphs.
None of anyone else's paragraphs.

I'm not worried about recruiting until next february. The class will be pretty good next year. Either Hoke will turn a corner and recruiting will pick up or we'll have a new guy with new a selling point.

“We’re going to win National Championships,” Cole said. “We didn’t have the best year this year, but with last year’s class, and the class before that, and the class this year, we’re going to be something special. There is no doubt about that.”
I know there have been some doubts expressed about the future, but I think that hearing this level of confidence from recruits - as it seems to confirm that they believe they've made the best choice - very reassuring somehow. Hopefully, he is correct - 2012 and 2013 just got here basically, and 2014 is not yet here, but combined, it would be awesome if "something special" is exactly what they are at some point.

Actions speak louder than words. These kids aren't obligated to attend the University of Michigan, but they're doing it because they believe it's a good life decision. I suspect that many of these kids/families are looking at a whole lot more than the football team's 2013 record when they're making decisions about where to attend college.

This doesn't make me even 1% more confident. It's Campbell's friend, teammate, etc. Of course Cole wants Campbell at Michigan and even if Michigan had NO shot at Campbell (which I'm not saying), he'd never disappoint his friend by telling him that the school he loves and is attending is out of the running.
I wouldn't expect to Cole to feel any differently. He should feel we have a shot until Campbell commits elsewhere or tells him that Michigan's out. Neither has happened, so anyone in Cole's position would say "I think we have a real good chance."

It's a positive comment. Cole and Campbell are exceptionally close, like family I believe it's been said. I think he could afford to be honest with his friend, if not completely so, he could temper expectations. If that had happened, we might have heard Cole say something like "we still have a shot, he still likes Michigan" or something similarly bland.
Doesn't mmean he's coming to M, but it should be a positive an increment your expectation to some degree. Methinks you're letting your disappointment with the bowl loss cloud your outlook.

that mentions a talented commit is at the Army AA bowl still thinking highly of the program he's committed to, even after a disappointing year. That's good to know, and we can worry about Campbell later.

#3 OG per 247sports, #8 OG composite. Huge part of a great incoming class

I really think Michigan's future must be built around the core of unsexy OL, DL, and LBs. The skill players are obviously part of it too, but at this point, I think we MUST keep the train rolling on 4 and 5 star line guys. It takes a couple years to develop them, obviously, to a point where they strike fear in the opponents' eyes. If I could have anything I'd take Malik McDowell over Campbell. Flame me if you disagree but we gotta beef up the core. When we have that and can play solid grinding football, then the recruits will come. In droves.

As far as the OL goes, I think we're at a comfortable level, now if we can get the DL guys like Pipkins, Charlton, Poggi, and Hurst to contribute next year we can hopefully see some improvement in both lines.

Pipkins will be very important. Can't wait to see him back on the field.

Who wants sexy linemen though? I want linemen who approach the game of football with violent intent, to the point where if they weren't on a field wearing pads, the police would be called to investigate an assault and battery claim.

Mason is one my favorite recruits. Hopefully he is right about George.

that the ship has sailed on Campbell. If he changes his mind and re-commits, great, but it's a waste of time to fantasize about.

My comment was from the point that OL especially don't rack up statistics. An overpowering NT who needs a double team never makes the boxscore. A LB gets tackles as a quantitative measurable but there's a lot more than that going on. (paragraph i cannot insert here) Ohio and MSU are going to have their player development tested next year as they graduate several key seniors. Not sayiing I expect their team to fall apart...but I think perhaps not quite such offensive and defensiive juggernauts, respectively.
