Longest win streak vs Indiana in history
Michigan is now on a 6 game win streak vs Indiana which is the longest by the Wolverines in the history of the rivalry.
The previous was 5 from 1929-30 - 1932-33.
Michigan has also won their last two games at Skjodt Assembly Hall. That hasn't happened since 3/10/1985 and 2/2/1986.

It has never been sweeter to be a wolverine fan in Indy...

i hate to be that guy, but it’s ‘hear, hear’

I hate to be that guy
Then why be that guy?
January 26th, 2019 at 10:22 AM ^
Someone has to be that guy.

Where is Indy? Asking for the football team
January 25th, 2019 at 10:24 PM ^
Well at least the Hoosiers can take solace in their football team vs. Michigan, I'm sure that losing streak can't be worse
*checks notes*
Oh dear God

The only time I can recall IU beating UM in football was '87. Probably haven't won another since before Bo arrived

Lol what's impressive is per that link, Michigan played in Bloomington one time between 1900 and 1958. Played exclusively in Ann Arbor in other years.
January 26th, 2019 at 8:07 AM ^
Thanks to your link, I now know that the last time Indiana beat Michigan in football was 3 weeks before I was born. Good god, that’s remarkable.

It was just before I turned 18. Was ready to start drinking (legally) and then The State of Michigan drinking age was changed to 21. Luckily, I had a drinking buddy that was already 18 when the law was changed. He was grandfathered in and could still buy booze.

I'd LOVE to up vote you, but I don't want to jinx us. Knocks on wood three times.

Indiana is probably the only team that wishes they were Minnesota...let that soak in
January 25th, 2019 at 10:36 PM ^
Plus we won by the largest margin in school history at Assembly Hall. Knight would’ve thrown 4 chairs by the end of this one.
January 25th, 2019 at 10:39 PM ^
True. Although the IU players would have been way more into the game if Knight was the coach. It's amazing how well a team will play when they fear for their lives
January 25th, 2019 at 11:41 PM ^
Literally spit my dinner out lol
January 26th, 2019 at 12:09 AM ^
I’m not sure that you’re exactly correct by fear factor alone. Anyone who chews tabaccy during a basketball game has to be intimidating while in the huddle. Spit, talk, spit, talk. Archie looked like he was looking for Betty and Veronica.

I'm all for being haughty and gloating on the win, but they were down 2 starters from what I gather. I'll take the W all day though

I remember those 85-86 games. The General!
January 25th, 2019 at 10:58 PM ^
The General, the Judge, Tarpley, Rellford, and Wade. Loved that group, even though they struggled in the tournament. The loss to Nova in '85 was acceptable but losing to Johnny Orr and ISU in '86 sucked.

That 1985 team was loaded. Frieder couldn't hold a candle to Beilein as a game day X's and O's coach, but the guy could recruit. I remember as a young kid being exceedingly frustrated with Michigan dorfing games they had no business dorfing.
January 26th, 2019 at 8:42 AM ^
Yes but that #1 vs #2, Michigan vs GT, Tarpley vs Salley win was sweet. Remember watching with my Uncle John who was a classmate of Gerald Ford. I was a sophomore I think. It was one of the ugliest offensive games Ive ever seen between two teams each with a ton of offensive firepower. Or it was one of the best defensive games played by two teams Ive ever seen. Im still trying to figure that out 34 years later.
January 26th, 2019 at 9:47 AM ^
Both teams scored in the 40's right? I remember UM winning but it was damn ugly
January 26th, 2019 at 9:54 AM ^
Frieder could recruit better because he used a bagman for follow up visits.
BTN Show (after our IU win) talked about the McDonalds All American Team being just announced. They mentioned that Beilein didn't get one of them (and never does) and still puts a great team on the floor.
January 26th, 2019 at 5:06 AM ^
oh, the talent on that team! gary grant, glenn rice, loy vaught, roy tarpley would all have great pro careers (asterisk next to tarpley, tragically couldn't stay away from the white powder). and i didn't get to know antoine joubert much in school b/c i was older but two observations: if he was 6' 5", as he was announced, then i'm 6' 4"....not! and i always thought he had just finished smoking whenever i saw him. maybe unfair, but who knows. whatever happened to him? he was mr. basketball and full of promise but never heard about him after school was over.
January 26th, 2019 at 7:42 AM ^
I believe Joubert is currently the Men’s Basketball Coach at Oakland Community College.

cool. thank you for the update.

The '86 pep band's version of "The Victors" is perfect here. I feel like the current MMB/pep band play it a bit too fast.
January 25th, 2019 at 10:59 PM ^
All Hail John Beilein!
January 25th, 2019 at 11:07 PM ^
I was quite shocked to learn before the first meeting this season that Indiana fans still regard Dickface Crean's "You wrecked the program" positively and not, like, the beginning of the end.

Thumbs up my friend!
January 26th, 2019 at 12:17 AM ^
that's good - but I'm still bummed about those 3 '76 games
heart ache still a plenty
January 26th, 2019 at 12:20 AM ^
Michigan should have won 2 of those 3 1976 games
January 26th, 2019 at 1:08 AM ^
We will win it all this year

But bookmarked incase you're seer.

Pretty darn impressive. I remember it being very hard to win there even with the Fab 5.
