Long piece on this year's Game vs OSU at Buckeye blog Eleven Warriors

Submitted by StephenRKass on

There is a long piece on this year's game with the Buckeyes at Ohio State blog Eleven Warriors.

LINK:  2017 Look Ahead:  Ohio State at Michigan

It seems a pretty even-handed non-snarky thorough review. My personal take is that Michigan's defense is going to be a lot better than most anyone is predicting. I will believe in Michigan's offense once I actually see it on the field against a solid defense. I'd like to think it will be an upgrade, but I have been let down by the OL for a long time. I'm hoping that is beginning to really change with both Drevno and Frey focusing on line play.

but it's not terrible. The writing is so matter of fact...seeming almost elementary in style. Short, concise sentences. And of course it only takes 2 comments before someone opines eloquently, "Fuck Michigan."  While I like their website more than this one...the writing, as a whole is a severe step below the talent here.

This is my chief complaint with 11 warriors. The site appears to be run by high school students, and the comments section is a hoard of 6th graders. It's worse than Mlive. Which is why it drives me absolutely crazy when people try to compare Mgoblog to that site.

I like the set up of their blog better, but that's where it ends. Maybe 10% of the comments have any substance to them with most being juvenile and vulgar. Twenty years in corrections and most convicts can come up with better comments than Michigan sucks or fuck michigan or a picture of some idiot flipping the bird. Another thing about their site is you can only get so many negative points and they kick you off. I would drop an innocent comment about a recruit Michigan was going to get over them and then laugh all day waiting to see at night how much I pissed them off. Off course I did not get plus fifteen helmet stickers for "fuck Michigan". I am sure that clown is a Rhodes scholar for sure, at least in the state of Ohio. I love the comment about how they are above beating Michigan and only shoot for NC's, all the time winning the big ten east one time in five or maybe it is six years. Of course losing to a team that Michigan beat by thirty nine freakin points just slips their minds or the fact they got rolled and shutout by thirty one points means nothing. If I was osu I would be sweating this years game more than Michigan because like the idiots have said we have no chance and are going to lose at least three games this year. They better hope that is the way it plays out because the losses they have coming after this year will be substantial as all there eligible junior talent will be off and running along with a boatload of seniors where Michigan may lose like three starters. Another idiot believes schiano is better than Don Brown. Of course having the number one defense two years in a row at two different schools means nothing because "Michigan sucks". They also should realize when Wilson and Schiano are offered head coaching gigs.......goodbye, especially Wilson because Schiano has gone from Head coach in the nfl to dc in college and that's weak.

Has been successful without his current dc before and he's never had Wilson on staff. Urban is just fine, in fact it's Michigan who is under more pressure. A coach getting 9 million a year starting 0-3 against the main rival is way more pressure then a guy who could be 5-1 against them. Stop acting like Urban is shaking in his boots over the thought of Michigan. Dude is killing it now. But damn I really want to see Michigan beat them this year...

Right? Kyle Wittingham and Charlie Strong defenses were down right terrifying under Urban. Not to mention Dan Mullen and Tom Herman on the offensive side of the ball. As much as I can't stand him, he has proven that he'll get replacements no problem.

And how can I forget about Chris Ash. Laughs

Everything I wrote was directed at eleven warriors and osu fans comments. Never mentioned Meyer once. How you got that out of what I wrote I have no idea. Of course Meyer did fire his OC so that kind of goes against your he is good on his own theory. One thing I do like about the comments on eleven warriors is they are united for the most part, but on this site I see people constantly negged and people trying to one up fellow wolverine fans with there smartass comments. And since your on Meyer's jock, was he purely hired to beat Michigan because if that is the case he has fulfilled his contract, but I see a team who is always favored to win the big ten with superior talent yearly with national championships aspirations failing miserably. The man plays with a stacked deck and has won the big ten once in six years. Osu is very lucky to have not loss four games last year. I will say it again this is osu's year because after this year the deck will not be stacked in his favor. Whether the man is shaking is flat out irrelevant and so were your comments because I never even mentioned him.

So I view it that way. Yes he has had some blunders but the fact is he's won a NC, been to the playoffs twice, beat Michigan 5 times, and has only lost six games in five years. If Harbaugh had that type of record I'd be ecstatic. It's the type of posts of people here making it seem like Urban is going to run off scared as soon as Harbaugh has everything he needs is silly. Or that Kevin Wilson and Greg S are what's really the success of OSU. It's just silly. They have it all going for them, and anyone who says they wouldn't want their success is nuts. Love having Harbaugh but if Michigan would have been able to get Meyer over Hoke just think where we would be.

I mean yeah, the Buckeyes did fight back last year and kind of handed it to them in the fourth quarter but I have to say it. I don' t care which idiot doesn't agree or doesn't want to hear it. The striped little weiner heads took the wind right out of Michigan's sails. They prolonged the inevitable and momentum swing. Doesn't Matter. Talent will be matched and Urban will be out-coached. Last's years Michigan team wasn't that sound and excellent. The defense was sometimes awesome but not when it counted. The offense has come far but still wasn't great or close to elite. Oh and by the way, I'm so sick of hearing that Urban has such a great offense or he's such a great coach. NO HE DOESN"T and no he isn't. He's an excellent motivator and bullshitter is how I see it. He has the best trouble making atheletes in America. The boys who don't do homework but steal it from the smart kids. Plain and simple. They're going down and Urban isn't really killing it.

Yeah the comment section is horrific.  Alot of usage of the term "we" - seems as if the NCAA needs to do an investigation on OSU breaking the rule of 105 players on the roster bc the number of "we beat" (insert team) I see is staggering.  There are also alot of incoherent sentences written about how dumb the SEC is and how they suck - yes, we remember the time "you" beat Alabama by a touchdown.  Other than that, the SEC has owned ohio since the beginning of time.  Articles arent bad but it just seems like there are alot of not smart people reading and commenting on them.

You get a lot of that kind of talk over there because those people live through OSU football. Obviously everyone around here is dying to see the streak against them come to an end, but my life isn't defined by the result of a football game that I didn't play in. Ohio State football, and more importantly hating Michigan, is life down there.

Actually, there are very few Michigan articles on Eleven Warriors, they just happened ta do an alysis of every game on the upcomign schedule, and today was the last one.  And side note to all on this board, I read both this blog and Eleven Warriors, and while I know you guys like to act superior here, it's the same stuff.  Most people are respectful and have good takes, and then you will get your "Fuck Michigan" people.  I have news for you, I see the same stuff here, you just over-look it more here when it's aimed at OSU, and notice it more on Eleven Warriors when it's aimed at you.  You can kid yourselves all you want, but there are both good and bad posters on both sights, idiots and quality people on both, etc.

Bass Dude, I have a revelation for you and us all. I think it's time we all start saying that we cant wait until Michigan is kicking their ass. Kicking their candy asses again every damn year as a matter of fact. This my friend is a fucking great idea.

I'd suggest that it's not really "thorough", but instead a good top-level look at Michigan from our arch-rival's perspective.  The lack of snark is, I suspect, in part attributable to Michigan not holding up its end of the rivalry over the past 13 years or so.

I also suspect that this will change, what with Harbaugh, recruiting, and the top-shelf coordinators and assistant coaches Harbaugh draws.

Yeah, it is a top level look, but there isn't really much analysis. I guess that's to be expected. And yeah, when the recent record is 12 wins out of 13, it is pretty easy to be even-handed and non-snarky. I really am looking forward to Michigan punching OSU in the mouth and winning decisively. There's nothing more that I'd like than to see Michigan's OL and DL punish OSU. The Buckeyes have rarely had to stay on the field a long time, and rarely have faced a solid DL. Both Michigan and Clemson showed how vulnereable the Buckeyes are when that happens. Please, let Brown come up with defensive trickeration that destroys them.

Our db situation scares me.  Until those guys show they can hold up in single coverage I'm not ready to say the defense will be elite.  Luckily I think there is a solid chance the offense takes a step forward.
