to be honest I don't think we'll be thinking the same thing on NSD. michigan is in on some top corners, the 2 or 3 we'll sign might all be higher rated players.

I'm kinda sick of recruiting right now, its too early to get attached to any recruit, plus all these 3 stars are making me nervous, especially when their on defense. I would rather focus on how the current guys are looking. Because half our commits could back out.

so the D actually has a higher percentage of 4 stars then the O. Get a grip man half of our commits could back out and the world could end tomorrow so it's all irrelevant. It sounds like you need a football break. Take two weeks off and come back and see me then. Bye the way, that'll be $150.

Let him go to ND, it'll be great when we watch a new Weapon of Choice video featuring Wood trying to catch up to Ricardo Miller after a bomb from Forcier/Gardner/Robinson/whoever else is playing QB at the time.

The moment Walls steped on the field...Super Mario went right at him. I can't recall how many passes came his way. But so many did that...NL had to pull him off the field, for a couple of series because SM was getting the best of him.

I just heard last night that We're in good position with Tony Grimes. Good position meaning he's thinking of committing, just not sure when. Obviously this can change. I asked Rashad Knight what he thought of Lo Wood's commitment to ND, and it ended by him saying that it just means there's more room for other players.....like himself. Obviously we're still way way ahead for Cullen Christian. We're fine.

As someone who lives near Notre Dame's campus ( St. Joe, MI). I find it hard to believe that anyone would want to go to that school. I have been there many of times as a middle school and high school student and was never impressed with the campus. It is very small in a city that is on the downgrade..South Bend is not a city you want to visit...and to find out that you have to live in the dorms for four years?!?! I still find it hard to believe that top recruits want to go to Notre Dame for football.

This. How Domers continually claim that South Bend is anything above a nightmare is beyond me. Not only is it in that hellhole of a state, the city is beyond repair. So what if 1000 sq. feet of the campus is pretty. The rest blows.

I've yet to visit ND, but tell me if this is true. I have a friend that goes there and he said that when they live in the dorms they have to sign a contract saying they will not drink, smoke, or have sex in the dorms. Is this true?

I've had a few friends go there. They have mentioned something along those lines, but I think most actively ignore the conversation out of fear for how juvenile the entire thing sounds. On the flip side, I've heard tell of priests bringing in cases for the students in an effort to prevent students from drinking hard alcohol. Saying that again out loud sounds really untrue though.

I had a friend who went there for a semester and transferred because she hated it. I'm not sure if the priests bring in cases, but you are not punished for drinking beer in the dorms, as long as you're not out in the hallways. Everyone just hangs out in the dorm rooms drinking. The thing about sex is true. You can't have members of the opposite sex in your room after 2 in the morning. If you're caught having sex, you're kicked out. And yes, it is incredibly juvenile.

It is probably your maize colored glasses speaking. Most of my Domer friends are the first to bemoan how big of a dump South Bend is. However, their campus, while not in my top tier, is still pretty good. It is a good academic school with a lot of football tradition and national coverage on NBC for every home game - so there you go, some reasons why recruits would go there from a person that dislikes them as much as you. Plus, Corwin Brown is reputably a great recruiter- so that could explain this particular case.

We're in on 4 recruits who are more highly regarded - Dior Mathis, Cullen Christian, Rashad Knight, Tony Grimes. This is a "whatever".

Two months ago we would have been ecstatic for a Lo Wood commitment, despite the lukewarm recruiting sites' rankings. We now seem to be rationalizing his commitment elsewhere. And, although we are well-positioned to secure commitments from "better" prospects, we were once considered the odds-on favorite for Wood. Just something to remember -- recruits' minds can change awfully quickly. Huh. Pretty pessimistic post. Sorry about that.

You're right, we would have been happy to have him. He seemed like a decent kid, so hopefully everything goes well for him. But, it's a statement of fact that we're the odds-on leader for 2 CB's (if you want to call Mathis a CB) who are more highly regarded in Mathis and Christian, and are definitely in the game for two more (Knight and Grimes) who are also more highly regarded. Thus, I'm not rationalizing anything - the pool of quality corners from which we'll take 2 to 3 players has shrunk from 5 to 4. That's it.

You are correct: Michigan remains in excellent position for some combination of Mathis/Grimes/Christian/Knight. Assuming we add two of those four, which at this point seems likely (plus Avery), Michigan will have satisfied a major recruiting need. Nevertheless, it is somewhat disappointing to see that group dwindle in size.

If we don’t get Dior Mathis then I might be a little hurt, but woods, I can live without. I just want at least 3-4 quality corners so we can do something about that secondary.

with injuries and scheme last year. We have two high quality corners when they are healthy and not forced to play 10 yards off of the WR like last season. JT will be here and can play either CB or Safety. Vlad and Williams should be better than Stevie. Woolfolk shows promise at safety after switching from CB. I think the biggest surprise is going to be Witty who can fly and is getting healthy. With MRob and Avery already on board for next year and a great possibility of landing CC, I'm more worried about MLB. My major concern with the secondary is how young they are.

My question is how many corners do we take. We have Avery now. Then we have Christian, Grimes, Knight, and Mathis. Will we take them all? Thats 5 corners. I keep reading we'll sign 3-4. I read somewhere we might take Knight as a safety though.

I agree with Brain when he said that he expects at least one of the many slot recievers at UM to end up on the other side of the ball. It will be interesting to see how defenses continue to evolve in response to the popularity the spread offenses. I think the nickel will be more the norm than the exception soon. One could argue that in many cases it already is. Also, I really like the development of S/LB and LB/DE hybrids. The only problem I see is that players may hesitate to accept the roles in fear of not being ready for the NFL.
