Last Call at the Big House - Brandstatter and Dierdorf were magnificent!

I haven't seen their call posted, but someone did a highlight reel of The Game with the added radio call. Wow! You can hear how much this means to Jim and Dan. They played in this rivalry. They bled for this program. They LOOOOOVE Michigan! And for their storied, 50 year, Michigan Man careers to end with a magnificent win and performance in The Game provokes indescribable emotions. I will cherish the last 3 minutes of their call forever!

Yeah, as much grief as we all collectively give Jim on the boards, hearing him and Dan call their last home game together, having having THIS GAME be their last home game, it was totally magical. I've been spending the day watching different highlights packages, and the ones with their reactions have pretty much been making me cry.

IIRC, Jansen has filled in for Dan on some broadcasts. I like Karsch's sideline updates, but his voice is kind of raspy and might be a difficult hang over a three hour broadcast.

But overall, give me technically flawed but passionate Michigan dudes like Brandy and Dan anytime. I just hope we don't get someone generic.

I listened Q4 to them vs the TV broadcast.  Dan choked up at the end.  Loved Brandy as analyst for the Lions for years.  Not the greatest at play by play.  But very happy they finished with a win over the evil empire.

I listened to the MSU game on the way home Saturday (snow made the drive verrrry slow to West MI) and they were awful.  Blaha pauses awkwardly, barely gives you an impression of what's going on (especially if it's negative for MSU), and the analyst easily the worst person I've ever heard in sports media.  He provides no analysis, just some random fan grunts and cheers.

Say what you want about Brandy and Dierdorf, they are pretty good for a college football radio team.

Dierdorf’s first and last comments on this video were perfect. “I don’t care about any of that. I just want to beat Ohio State” was the the voice of the collective anguish we’ve all been feeling for too long. And I share his pride in this team. Gonna miss this tandem on Saturday afternoons.

Dierdorf was a South Quad resident on my floor when I was a freshman. He was a super-nice guy, very friendly, easy to talk with. I got along well with him, though I will admit, I was in awe of his on-the-field performance.

I've always wished him the very best in his career, and always loved his success, and his work in the broadcast booth.

What a way to send them both out, team!

Brandstatter will be calling the game from Indy, yes?  Dierdorf hasn't done a road game in a while, any news about him making an encore performance from Indianapolis?

Really glad I was able to see the game live, or at least live on TV.  It would have been wonderful to hear those two in their last game from Michigan Stadium given the great material they had to work with on Saturday.

Really enjoyed those guys.   They made the game extra entertaining for me the last 8 years.  I think they were former teammates.  Had great chemistry in the booth and could tease each other from time to time as well, which I found very endearing.  Will miss them big time. Epic final game at Michigan stadium sent them rightfully out in style.

Dierdorf does not travel much, but he might go to Indy.  If I remember right he might have been at Camp Randall this year.

I was thinking about them after the game. What a great way to finish at Michigan Stadium for them. IIRC, they both played in the 1969 24 - 12 win over Woody.

Can't think of a better pair of bookends for them.

I loved Dierdorf because he always was honest about UM football.  And I love Jimmy B too because he loves UM, but he was the worst play by play man I have ever heard.....:)
