Covid really is crazy. I’ve known people that it’s literally no big deal and others who spent time in the hospital. No one died, but a few are dealing with serious lifestyle impacting ramifications.

Either way, I still want nothing to do with it. Stay safe out there all.

My son has/had it, he's on day 10 of quarantine so technically the last day. His was pretty mild, like a flu, but now we worry about cardiac issues because he's an athlete. The protocol now is EKG and echocardiogram before returning to play. Chances are, he's fine and won't have issues but you just never know.

I'm not trying to be sarcastic here nor do I think Herbstreit getting Covid is a joking matter - far from it and I wish him a speedy recovery - but I'm sincerely confused about the reference to "sexist comments" in your post. I see "classless" comments and the requisite "Covid denial" comments in this thread but that's about it on the negative side of the ledger.

Thought it was highly suspect when members of Congress started getting the vaccine ahead of nursing home residents (you could argue they are trying to instill confidence that it's safe), but then I heard that all Congressional staffers are also jumping to the front of the line. This reconfirms for me that it would be best if all of Washington DC just slid into the Potomac. Corrupt motherfuckers, all of 'em.

A good research project would be for someone to count the number of "Person X/Team X got COVID" threads on MGoBlog over the last 10 months, and then count how many of those folks were hospitalized and/or died.

I nominate you for that research project and request that you then post the results on NitGoBlog. Not here.

I just finished reading in my news feed about a 41 year old congressman-elect in Louisiana who passed away from covid, leaving behind a wife and two young children.  And our country is at 340,000 covid deaths already and counting. How do you not get that?

With all due respect (and I generally do respect you as a long-term member of the board, just not on this subject), peddle that garbage downplaying the threat of covid somewhere else please. Not on this board!

The 40 year old father of one of my 12 yo son's friends died from it 2 weeks ago. Just before Christmas.  Sad and horrible for that family.

Nearing 4K deaths/day in the U.S and record hospitalizations. UK is seeing the spread of a hyper-version of Covid and massive numbers of hospitalizations too.

Anyone downplaying this is a fking moron.

(Edit by rob f @ 12:55 pm: I've heavily edited this post because the author included highly questionable "information" without providing link(s) I then requested.)

Please don't [hospital funding disinformation removed]. Covid blew through my extended family this year.  We are fine.

The method of counting coronavirus 11 deaths is unlike any counting method used in the past.   First it was [speculative dismissal of covid as actual cause of deaths removed]  Reporting the death of a few 12 year olds in the last year is not evidence we should turn over our lives to unelected bureaucrats.

Others can panic and oppress. I will do my best to love my neighbor and make decisions based on logic and the facts at hand.

Calling people a moron doesn't help.  The rose leaves a scent on the hand that delivers it.

EDIT:  82% and 94% numbers straight from the CDC.  Look it up.

What's your source for your "information"?

Provide the source and link or I'm deleting your post. The management of this blog have made it pretty damn clear that MGoBlog is NOT going to be used as a vessel for covid disinformation and I fully intend to enforce it.

Rob-L, he said the CDC was the source. The problem is no one bothers to read the info and test data on the cdc site. If they did they would totally pissed off @ governors like whitmer and newsome.

#1 misinformation commonly spread on social media,Children are super spreaders and in person classes are dangerous (nothing is further from the truth) from cdc.gov/covid

the South Koreans came to the conclusion from a study in July, that children k-6 ages, are more susceptible to complications and symptoms from influenza than they are from COVID-19. They are not spreaders of covid to adults either.

#2 and probably the biggest disinformation being pedaled “Total US Deaths from COVID-19-again it’s right on the cdc site for everyone to see cdc.gov/covid-look at the chart the cdc provides and do your best to convince me this isn’t done on purpose-their chart is either purposely misleading or they are just incompetent. I think it’s a little bit of both.why not have a death chart that only shows deaths caused by COVID-19?Why they have to include deaths by pneumonia, influenza without breaking out each cause of deaths?

#3-the first cases were 3 people in a Washington state nursing home-recent testing of blood stockpiles have found samples testing positive for covid antibodies as far back as late November 2019. I think it’s been circulating around the world and in the US since September 2019.
***With only a few cases in Florida by the beginning of March, Trump announced the covid task force and it’s plan to flatten the curve March 11-April 12th.

***By mid April every county in Florida had reported at least one confirmed case of COVID-19. Imo that is absolutely impossible to happen in 4 weeks. No friggin way does that happen in just a couple months. That would take 6-12 months imo. Would love to hear your thoughts on that Rob.
Hope everyone has a great new year and wish a prosperous 2021 for everyone! Even ttun fans.

No, the burden is on you to provide a link since it is something you posted.

Until proven otherwise with said link, I consider what you posted to be merely your interpretation of something you've read from some unknown and quite possibly unreliable "source".

(Edit @ 12:20 pm)

I'll give you a short while longer to provide the requested link before I make the extremely rare move of heavily editing your post.

The first red flag on your part was posting that it's a hospital funding method, obviously implying that data is being falsified in order to reap additional funding.

Then you made claims that for all intents and purposes amount to saying that 82%, then 94%, and now 97% of the deceased would have very shortly died anyway, that they were practically on death's doorstep.

Blame the bureaucrats, huh?  Another red flag. "Panic and oppress"? Major red flag.

I'll give you until 12:45 on the required link.

(Edit #2 @ 12:50 pm) No link? My editing of your original post shall now take place.

I respectfully disagree. I think there is a large and obvious distinction between those who have tested positive with symptoms and those who have merely tested positive. I do think it is not useful to post every time someone that we have heard of has tested positive, without knowing this because that is a huge number and not really news, unless the goal is merely to spread panic and unease. I in no way suggest that it is not a serious concern for those struggling with the virus.

Oops. Looks like you replied with the wrong account, Nittany.

As for this 'not really being news,' you have likely heard of Kirk, and this is sports related on a sports blog.

Any attempt at driving hysteria you interpret from the post is something you are reading into it from your deeply ingrained narrative. Everyone is aware that Covid is present and impacting people all over the world. Acknowledging one more case is not influencing any reasonable person's sense of "panic or unease." If it causes dissonance for you, maybe you should avoid clearly titled Covid threads. It is pretty clear that this subject causes you suffering.
