Kirk Campbell Offensive Analyst
Kirk Campbell, Old Dominion's Offensive Coordinator and former Penn State offensive analyst, joins Michigan's staff as an analyst.
Anyone know why he was let go at ODU? I thought his offenses improved.

See, further proof that Harbaugh is gone to the pros!
/did I do that right?
January 19th, 2022 at 9:31 AM ^
I thought this was a game where we had to make a name from when Kirk Ferentz hired Soup Campbell to be his WR coach.
January 19th, 2022 at 12:08 AM ^
So Harbaugh is staying?
January 19th, 2022 at 7:19 AM ^
No, Harbaugh is going to Oakland...uh...I mean Vegas.
Evidence:
Mike Mycock was heard shouting "Fucking Harbaugh! Who does he think he is?" right after getting canned by text message.

Hot Take: Lack of Kirk Campbell, Not Talent Level, Led To Our Struggles In CFP
January 19th, 2022 at 2:39 AM ^
Conclusion: Michigan needs to upgrade its talent level at key positions.
January 19th, 2022 at 9:01 AM ^
I thought it was the structure of the talent level that presented the problem.

While I agree that, in time, our team will be most triumphant. The truth is, Michigan football will never be a super team until we have Eddie Van Halen as coach.
Yes, but, I do not believe we will get Eddie Van Halen until we have a triumphant season.
It's pointless to have a triumphant season before we even have decent equipment.
Well, how can we have decent equipment when we don't even know how to play?
That is why we NEED Eddie Van Halen as coach!
and THAT is why we need a triumphant season!
January 19th, 2022 at 1:35 PM ^
We cannot and will not be triumphant until we can be excellent to each other!!!!

Snazzy, is that you?
January 19th, 2022 at 8:48 AM ^
You forgot to misuse the word "rendering."
January 19th, 2022 at 12:34 AM ^
He's our next OC when Gattis gets the HC gig. I hope it all works out.
January 19th, 2022 at 1:19 AM ^
Lol no he’s not. That role isn’t going to an offensive analyst who was fired from the same role at Old Dominion. It’ll be Moore and maybe Hart as a co-OC.
January 19th, 2022 at 5:48 AM ^
I’m at a loss for words… this might be in the running for dumbest comment of 2022.
January 19th, 2022 at 7:01 AM ^
Give this guy a jump to conclusions pad!
January 19th, 2022 at 7:25 AM ^
It’s a jump to conclusions mat, not pad.
January 19th, 2022 at 7:31 AM ^
Matt Weiss is the next OC.
January 19th, 2022 at 8:03 AM ^
Would be very interesting to know what kind if a role he played this year.
January 19th, 2022 at 10:08 AM ^
Did you see how the running game totally changed this year and looked exactly like what the Ravens do (minus the counter/power read stuff that McNamara can't do)?
That's what Weiss brought to the table.
January 19th, 2022 at 5:25 PM ^
Cant be true. User stephenrjking is adamant in the michigan football changing 2021 thread that our run game is the same as it’s been under Harbaugh and Weiss is just a QB coach and has no influence on the running game.
January 19th, 2022 at 8:21 AM ^
Just like Biff Poggi is the next HC.
January 19th, 2022 at 8:40 AM ^
I suspect this was a sarcastic post gone amuck?
Please tell us this was a sarcastic post that missed the mark. Please...
January 19th, 2022 at 10:08 AM ^
amuck = amok
January 19th, 2022 at 8:38 AM ^
I am not a rabid follower of Old Dominion football so I cannot comment on how his offenses did or didn't progress.
January 19th, 2022 at 9:36 AM ^
And just what makes you so different from everyone else here?!?
January 19th, 2022 at 8:42 AM ^
ODU made a bowl game this year, so I don't think his offense was total crap.
January 19th, 2022 at 5:33 PM ^
- 74th nationally with 27.6 ppg
- 84th nationally with 214.5 pass ypg
- 70th nationally with 160.3 rush ypg
- 84th nationally with 374.8 total ypg.
- 97th nationally with 5.3 yards per play
I guess it depends on your definition of “total crap,” but it certainly falls under the category of “not very good.” Below average.
They’ve shown improvement over prior years and even a significant first half/second half improvement this year.
January 19th, 2022 at 8:51 AM ^
Kirk was entertaining in Growing Pains but didn't do much after that.
January 19th, 2022 at 10:10 AM ^
You obviously didn't watch "Saving Christmas." Shame on you.
January 19th, 2022 at 8:57 AM ^
The OP is a better person than me (not a high bar to clear, mind you) for resisting the temptation to title the post “REPORT: Campbell to Michigan”
January 19th, 2022 at 9:12 AM ^
ODU didn't play at all in 2020.
In 2021 they started 1-5 but finished 5-1 after benching their starting QB.
Maybe he was against the QB change? Once it happened ...
In C-USA Play:
?5 Game Win Streak (Avg 36 PPG)
?PPG 14.5 (2019) ➡️ 29.3
?Gained 130.1 More YPG
?3rd Down% 29.2 (2019) ➡️ 43.7
January 19th, 2022 at 10:57 AM ^
Clearly they got him so he and Weiss can fusion dance us a super powered Matt Campbell
January 19th, 2022 at 10:58 AM ^
Anyone know what the specific reason is for Campbell being added to the staff? As Magnus pointed out, pretty obvious why Weiss was added. Campbell going to bring in passing game changes or QB coaching expertise or ???.
January 19th, 2022 at 2:33 PM ^
There was an article in the News or Freep a month or so back about James Ross being hired as the linebackers coach at Hope College. Somewhere buried in the story was a bit about all of the work Ross has to do and because Hope is such a small program and they do not have analysts. Analysts do a lot of the grunt work to free up the coaches to focus on coaching or game planning.
January 19th, 2022 at 2:40 PM ^
Gattis worked with Campbell at PSU.
Gattis just lost his top analyst Steve Casula, who took the OC job at UMass.
I think it's as simple as a Big10 level analyst and coach that Gattis knows was available.
