I'm not saying that Newsome not wanting to compete isn't the reason he decommited, but I don't see anywhere in that article where Newsome's father says thats the reason.

"Kevin has officially opened up his recruitment and is going to reevaluate everything," said Newsome Sr. "Not that he doesn't care for Michigan; we still think it's a possibility."

"He is going to concentrate on his season at Hargrave then we'll begin figuring his official visits," explained Newsome Sr. "Kevin is looking forward to being a quarterback and making it at the position."

Those are the only 2 quotes I see from his father and I don't see anywhere where he says Newsome doesn't like competititon, infact ESPN only eludes to that fact when they say:

"Newsome may have also come to the realization that he would have legit competition to remain behind center during his four years in Ann Arbor."

Either way, I think we land 1 more top 10 dual threat qb and I'd be happy with any combination of Beaver/Newsome/Forcier/Smith.

Then (merely a suggestion) you want to change the tone of your original post, Chris. Most of the people around these parts will read your post, not read the actual ESPN article, and conclude something that isn't in the ESPN piece. Then, we'll have to deal with 100 people screaming about how Newsome is a pansy who doesn't want competition.

Are we surprised that ESPN writers are a bunch of lazy hacks who cannot write the truth if it smacked them in the face?

Side note: watching the mgoblue.com vid today on the "beanie bowl", Sheridan looked pretty good on quite a few of those plays. Check it out. I think he starts v. Utah (yes, based on a few passes in the clip haha).

"sometimes this is the most logical conclusion"?

Seriously?  Sometimes, when I'm mowing my lawn, I step in a pile of crap.  And sometimes, when that happens, I think to myself- I think "GODDAMMIT! The neighbors little cocker spaniel pooped in my yard again! I hate that dog!"

And then other times, I think to myself "GODDAMMIT! Those new people who moved in across the street must have an invisible pink rhinocerous who likes to take a big poo in my yard!"  And then when I ask the people about their invisible pet rhinocerous, they say no, they don't have one.

But they are clearly lying. Invisible pink rhinocerous is the most logical conclusion! Come to think of it, their last name is Newsome.  Coincidence? I think not.

I think everyone would like their son to start and make money doing what they love. I also think every coach would like to tell their incoming 5 star QB Recruit this," How you doing(Insert 5 star recruits name and parents name).I can guarantee you you'll have food, room and board, a top notch education and no student loans here at the University of Michigan ok. But beyond that I think I would be doing you a disservice. If you are in fact looking for a guarantee ok." Many, not all, but many parents and the recruits themselves now a days want you(the coach and university) to NOT fall in love with their COLLEGE potential they want you see the TOP TEN DRAFT PICK in them TODAY while they are still in High School. And they need you(coach university) to believe with them. And coaches know this. Some coaches, not all, play puppeteer with these kids and do them a disservice. What you want to say to (Insert 5 star recruits name and parents name) them is this,"Take Tom Brady ok. When it's all said and done Tom Brady will probably have a net worth over or around 500 million dollars ok. He is in the 1 percentile of college quarterbacks who make in the NFL, AND who get an offer of a high dollar contract with endorsements. Ok now while Tom was here. Let me back up. Here's the story, he actually mailed us here at Michigan this cheesy video to try to get US, to recruit HIM. And we did and we offered. Then he had to compete for time against Drew Henson, the super recruit local guy. He received taunts, jeers, even went into therapy for it all while still a student at Michigan. His own student body was even very critical of him. So I guess what I'm saying(Insert 5 star recruits name and parents name) is that if I had just laid out and given Tom everything, would he be where he's at today?" Now I know these high school young men work very hard. And these recruits today are amazing talents. But in every recruitment there comes a boiling point where you sense the personal needs outweigh the needs of team. And it's at that point where you recruit others. Rich Rodriguez understands that well enough. And I'm sure the whole staff sensed it with some of these recruits. The family members can pull for the recruit to stay home or give other bad advice. I think in the case of both of these high profile recruits we've lost that is the case. But the question they should ask themselves is this. In 5 years when Rich and Michigan are scoring and winning, will I regret my choice of not wanting to be a Wolverine?

I might get banned or shunned for those comments but in reality this has become a sloppy clusterfuck of a comment section and you are the ringleader. You've made numerous baseless claims, challenged dex to a fight at the Utah game, and unleashed unbridled abominations of unedited texts upon this board. Use some damn punctuation. Take some aderol and just relax a minute. Then go look in a mirror and point at your reflection and say, "you're the problem with Michigan football fans!" over and over again. Eventually you'll get the point and within weeks 100,000,000 people will agree with me.

I do not want to fight anyone, especially Dex who I know would kick my butt. I have way too many physical health issuses with my back and legs which have nearly left me penniless. But to be honest with you, if you go back and read all of your quotes. You, Waymen and Dex have came after me with a vengence. And now at 130 am you're turning it around on me as if I am attacking you. I think if you can talk it online you should be able to say it to someones face. I was just asking to hear your opinions in person. Not fight. I'm not a violent man.

I am not saying giving a 5 star recruit the keys to the car is all bad though. You just have to stand by them as they learn on the job. And you have to let them make mistakes.

Maybe the offense did marginalize Brady. I don't know though. I heard Charlie Weis give a lecture on Tom Brady. Called him a,"Pastey from Michigan." Later on though he almost cried over the guy. Said Brady would come over after film and practice and take care of his kids. Weis said in pro sports you never become friends with the players, Bradsy was the exception. He said it to, Brady could handle the tougher times of life better than most. Then he made sure to tell us he called every play Brady's rookie season.

You can't take anything Charlie Weis says to be truth. He says "to hell with Michigan" when in reality he needs Michigan. He needs to beat us to save some face with his university regents. He called himself an offensive genius and has now given over playcalling duties. He said nobody would be able to stop his offense and we beat them 38 - 0. He's such an offensive genius that he thought he could install the zone read midseason, with an immobile emu at QB, and it would be successful. If he hadn't beat Stanford last year we'd be talking about Charlie on the hot seat. But no, he's still a genius and ND is such a golden beacon that Charlie isn't even talked negatively about.

Plus, if I have a rookie QB and we're contending for a Super Bowl, your damn right I'm calling all of the plays. He's a rookie. You minimalize the amount of potential mistakes he can make by giving it to him easy.

Yeah I know. It was an Adidas coaching conference in Vegas where I saw Weis. And so of course I wanted to hear Weis. What was weird was Bill Callahan was off to the side in one of those big conference rooms of Vegas Casinos when some guy asked a question about MI. The guy was wearing a Woodson jersey. Weis turned and said something to the effect of,"You better not let Callahan see you wearing that." And then said something under his breath. Unfortunately I had to then watch Nebraska beat us in that bowl game. I wonder if Weis called him up and said,"hey good job for letting your band on the field." Kidding.

Ninja- How do you come up with these stories. Amazing. I laugh out loud. We have way to much time on our hands. Proceed. (It's the most logical conclusion).

I'm dizzy.  Are you hammered?  Good points though.  Part of the BO book I just read details a certain recruit that wanted $5,000 up front from Bo to go to Michigan.  Bo said hell no!  (he sure says "hell no!" or "hell yes!" a lot for how "conservative" he was)  In the end that kid went no where.  The QB Bo got was much better.  If Newsome wants to be a Wolverine, then he will.  If he doesn't, then good.  He has a tough choice ahead of him, no need to second guess it later on.  Michigan Football will be alright, it always has.

FWIW, I see Tom Brady as an object lesson of why someone would NOT want to come to Michigan. You had a kid w/ all-time NFL great potential who was so marginalized by the Michigan system that, if Bledsoe hadn't gotten his head taken off, would have never gotten an opportunity because he was almost not drafted.

I like that "Rivalsization" is now a word.
