Kareem Walker Senior Season Highlights and Bio
I noticed that a lot of the highlight reels of Walker are from his junior season, so I found a senior season video that I thought people might enjoy here. Also found a bio (avoid the first minuteish about OSU) about Walker's upbringing, football and non-football traits that was made in September.
Seems like a great kid that will fit right into Harbaugh's vision for the team.

^ Things said about Derrick Green.
This film is far better though.

One key difference, though: nobody ever said Derrick Green was making people miss.

Whoever told you DG was playing against elite talent lied to you. NJ is about 3 steps up from Virginia ball. Green's film is child's play compared to Kareem's

It may just be the dreadlocks, but its crazy how much the way he runs reminds of Denard. Perhaps a step slower, but those cutbacks are crazy

Denard was a very upright runner.
December 18th, 2015 at 10:41 PM ^
1. Denard ran upright AF
2. A lot of dudes run with tall pads (Gurley comes to mind) and make it work. Kareem has a talent that is hard to coach into someone. I hope they put muscle on his legs and teach him some finer points on blocking and route running, but other than that leave him the F alone and let his natural athleticism do work

Yeah but aren't TJ Yeldon and Derrick Henry upright types? Maybe Magnus could chime in on that but...
But anyway, I guess I'm saying upright style isn't necessarily a limit on big success.

Pretty different styles, IMO. He's not nearly as shifty (but much more powerful, obviously). I thought the poor man's Jamaal Charles comparison from another thread today was pretty apt.

The blog has had quite a bit of discussion about the correct hole today.

But do you explode through the hole? My wife keeps complaining that I don't have enough patience and vision, and I either reach the hole too early before it's completely open, or I don't time my explosion correctly and end up putting the rest of the team at a disadvantage.

There are three seniors with Divison I offers on De Paul Catholic's team, including Thiyo Lukusa (Michigan State commit), Zaire Bethea (James Madison commit), and Raees Johnson (offers from Robert Morris, Rhode Island, and Sacred Heart). And Lukusa - the best offensive lineman - transferred in this past off-season.
They had zero seniors with Divison I offers in the class of 2015.

You're right about the competition in the Catholic league, but Thiyo Lukusa in particular was regarded as one of the top OL in Michigan before he transferred out of Traverse City.
December 19th, 2015 at 7:06 AM ^
My point is that Tim Sullivan (according to the above poster) said the OL lost talent between last year and this year. But last year they had zero FBS/FCS-bound seniors on the line, and this year they have 3. So I don't know how they could have become less talented.

His stats are down because he was sharing carries with another back

What about his Quarterback? Did the QB at DePaul change so that defenses could key in on him?
December 18th, 2015 at 8:59 PM ^
New QB, I think, but he completed 60% of his passes for 1,200 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 4 picks.
December 18th, 2015 at 8:45 PM ^
Nope. The kid's name is Nasir Hooker, and he's a class of 2016 kid, too. Zero FBS offers, but he averaged 7.4 yards/carry (to Walker's 7.1 yards/carry) and had 2 fewer touchdowns on almost 100 fewer carries.

I love the way he explodes through the hole. Thats something none of our backs do except for peppers.

December 18th, 2015 at 7:48 PM ^
This was magnified by the backs failure to explode through the hole though. I think a more explosive back would be able to make the line look better like Drake Johnson did late last year.
December 19th, 2015 at 12:06 AM ^
Walker hits the holes very quickly, like Drake Johnson did when healthy. The holes don't need to be very large or stay open very long, which helps with our O-Line.
December 18th, 2015 at 8:16 PM ^
The OL didn't help much, but our RBs have for the most part had extremely poor vision. It doesn't seem like Walker has that problem.

all the RBs had a hard time keeping girlfriends as well. They just couldn't hit the hole!
December 18th, 2015 at 7:46 PM ^
Probably the fastest to and through the hole RB on the team, right now.
Vision, topend speed and power will have to be TBD until he plays college guys. But the first point I think earns him snaps immediately.

Even dangelo Williams said he learned that patience from le'veon and you can hardly notice a drop off now that dangelo is getting the carries.

Debnard was the master of this. There were time where he came to a dead stop and waited . . . then BAM! we was gone.

Curious what people think, weber or Walker?
Obviously walker because obviously
December 18th, 2015 at 8:17 PM ^
I really really liked Weber's game. I think Walker has a lot of potential to be great.
December 18th, 2015 at 8:49 PM ^
I think Weber was a bit more of a power back, while Walker is a bit shiftier.
