Kansas facing really serious charges from NCAA

I know all the jokes, but this is bad news for them. Lack of institutional control is the charge that brings their harshest penalties. There are further serious allegation, including against Bill Self.

Pretty sure this was posted already, unless that thread was simply the announcement that Kansas was being informed of the allegations.

The previous post was saying that Kansas was going to get notified. This one actually has the charges.

I feel sorry for the local barber college that will the death penalty because of this.

This might have already been posted but first I've seen of the story.  Interesting, the dreaded "Lack of institutional control" - let's see if that happens.

On a related note, I get why Jalen Wilson left a transitioning Michigan. But why any top recruit would pick Kansas given all the reporting about likely sanctions is baffling. Maybe he just assumed the penalty would be a wrist-slap but why gamble? Also Kansas has been a paper tiger for years.

If Kansas is smart, they will fight this vigorously and theyll be hit with the minimum. The NCAA thrives on small programs and programs with morals like UM where we invoke "a day of great shame". Do like the big boys and fight it, NCAA are  cowards.

Frankly, this means absolutely nothing. Today I spoke with an anonymous prospect that visited Kansas recently and he expressly told me the potential sanctions have zero impact on his decision or the atmosphere on his visit.

Until the NCAA actually penalizes a program severely to the extent it hinders said program from succeeding on the court, this is all just gossip talk functionally.

The usual joke is that this means that some weakling program will get punished as a consequence. In this case, it’s actually true—the weakling program that the NCAA will throw the book at is Kansas football.

Why would this affect the 5* one and dones? They don't care about the NCAA tourney. They just want to play a year and move on.

NCAA likes to do this from time to time to give the perception that they are in control.

The FBI wiretap has shown that the NCAA does, or at least should, know about a LOT more than they will ever let on to.  The NCAA is, at best, a sham of an organization

I first thought this was about Les. So glad it's not. I want Kansas to come out from the depths of hell once again. Makes me think we ***Could*** do it too!

I can't believe it's taken this long to bust them.

Kansas has been dirty for a long time.

I'm sure there is some other big name BB schools that are sweating right now. Kansas is not alone.

The first step has to be going after the programs with damning FBI wiretap evidence. Going after other programs you suspect is fine to try later. But you can't delay going after Kansas and the others they are charging now.

If Kansas and a few others get hit hard, those other schools will start fearing an NCAA investigation. If they are let off lightly because of an everybody does it attitude, nothing will change.
